Party Secretary of Ward Jumps From Building After Being Caught Gambling

Upon spotting the police, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Giang Ward (Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province), jumped from the third floor to escape but unfortunately sustained serious injuries.

On the evening of March 30th, authorities in Quang Tri secretly raided the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Duyen (34 years old) on Ton That Thuyet Street, Dong Ha City, catching six people red-handed gambling using the "binh xap xam" card game.

Upon spotting the authorities, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong (38 years old), Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Giang Ward, Dong Ha City, along with two others, jumped from the third floor of Ms. Duyen's house onto the adjacent single-story house to escape.

Unfortunately, Mr. Duong suffered serious injuries and was taken to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment. Of the two people who jumped with Mr. Duong, one sustained minor injuries, while the other, named Long, escaped.

Reportedly, among those arrested was an employee of the Human Resources Department of a major hospital in Quang Tri province. At the gambling den, authorities seized nearly 200 million VND, along with evidence including 8 mobile phones, 2 motorbikes, and 1 car.

Regarding the homeowner, Nguyen Thi Phuong Duyen, authorities have not yet taken any preventative measures because she is pregnant. Ms. Duyen allowed the aforementioned individuals into her house to gamble in order to collect a commission.

The incident is still under investigation by the authorities.
