(Baonghean.vn) - At nearly 65 years old and with 43 years of Party membership, Mr. Le Hai Chau in Hamlet 12, Duc Son Commune, remains dedicated and strives to fulfill his duties as a Party branch secretary and head of the village's Fatherland Front committee. For the people in the area, he is a prime example of studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh.

Continuing our conversation, Mr. Le Hai Chau shared: "To gain the respect and affection of the people, the Party branch secretary must be a true role model, 'practicing what he preaches,' fostering unity within the branch and consensus among the people. He must always be close to, respect, and listen to the legitimate opinions of the people."

Mr. Chau donated 45 square meters of his family's land along the road to expand it for traffic.

To fulfill his role and responsibilities effectively, at village meetings, he always respected and promoted democracy, raising core issues to encourage Party members and the general public to actively participate, contribute opinions, and express their legitimate concerns and aspirations. He also coordinated with Party members, mass organizations, and the Fatherland Front in the village, going "door to door," to mobilize people to support the movements launched by the village.

Currently, Hamlet 12 in Duc Son commune has 90 households, 345 inhabitants, and a Party branch with 9 members. The people in the hamlet mainly engage in agricultural production. Party branch secretary Le Hai Chau has visited each household, thoroughly understanding their circumstances, thoughts, aspirations, difficulties, and obstacles in order to develop plans to help them.

Simultaneously, the village actively promoted innovation in thinking and working methods among its residents, leveraging the potential and advantages of its land, transforming the structure of crops and livestock, and introducing advanced techniques into production to intensify cultivation and increase crop yields. As a result, the village now has 1.5 hectares of pumpkins yielding 1 ton per sao (approximately 1000 square meters); 4 large-scale livestock farming models; and 20 effective economic development models, contributing to raising the average per capita income of the village to 25 million VND per year. The number of well-off and wealthy households in the village accounts for 43%, while the number of poor households has decreased to 4.4% according to the new standards.

In the New Rural Development movement, to gain the people's consensus, he was the first to set an example by donating 45 square meters of his family's land along the road to expand the road. In particular, on the road leading into the village, which was previously very difficult to travel on, muddy when it rained and dusty when it was sunny, Mr. Chau, together with the local government and village organizations, propagated and mobilized the people to actively contribute labor and money to pave 200 meters of rural road with gravel, and to lay soil and compact 261 meters of internal field road.

Thanks to his decisive involvement, within just 7 days, Hamlet 12 of Duc Son commune completed the land conversion and allocation to families for production according to Directive 08, with a total area of ​​95,088 m2. Each household, which previously owned an average of 5 plots, now owns only 1.8 plots.

In addition, as the Party Branch Secretary, Mr. Le Hai Chau always cared for and encouraged the people to promote the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance to help each other develop family economies, actively participate in preventing social evils, maintaining security and order, and building a strong residential area.

Thanks to these efforts, over the past five years, Mr. Le Hai Chau has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial Party Committee for outstanding performance of duties for five consecutive years from 2010-2014; and a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee for being a "Good Person, Good Deed" in the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement during the 2010-2015 period. Notably, in 2014, he was recognized as an exemplary Party Branch Secretary in the Northwest region and was the only individual from Anh Son district to receive a provincial-level Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee after five years of implementing Directive No. 03 of Nghe An province.
