The Provincial Party Secretary inspected the damage and directed efforts to mitigate the effects of Typhoon No. 2.

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 17th, Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation - inspected the damage and directed the recovery efforts following Typhoon No. 2 in Cua Lo town and Nghi Loc and Dien Chau districts.

Accompanying them were leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and leaders from relevant localities.

In Cua Lo town, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh personally inspected the damage to the rows of stalls in Cua Hoi and the situation of fallen trees in the area.

According to Doan Tien Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo town, approximately 45 houses and 20 beachfront stalls in the town had their roofs blown off. All boats and ships have returned to safe mooring areas. However, the most severe damage to the locality was the uprooting and breaking of many urban trees and protective forest trees due to the storm.

In the waters off Cua Lo town, the VTB 26 vessel, with a tonnage of 5,100 tons and carrying 4,700 tons of coal en route from Quang Ninh to Cua Lo, sank while anchored near Hon Ngu Island. There were 13 people on board. Immediately after inspecting and assessing the situation,Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh directly supervised the search and rescue operation.There were 13 people on board the VTB26 vessel.

Later that afternoon, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh inspected the damage and recovery efforts in Nghi Loc district and Dien Chau district.

In Nghi Loc district, the Provincial Party Secretary inspected the operation of the Nghi Quang wharf and the Nghi Thiet grinding plant, belonging to Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company, The Vissai Cement Group, in Nghi Thiet commune.

At the Nghi Thiet grinding plant, approximately 50 meters of the cement conveyor belt used to transport cement to the dock were destroyed by waves. The cause was strong waves that eroded the entire foundation on which the conveyor belt was placed. Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh expressed his sympathy for the damage and hoped the unit would soon rectify the situation to restore stable cement transportation.

The Provincial Party Secretary thanked Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company for its support in the search and rescue of the crew members of the VTB 26 vessel; and requested the company to continue its support in the search.

Following that, the Provincial Party Secretary inspected the damage caused by Typhoon No. 2 to Son Ha Company in Nam Cam Industrial Park. Typhoon No. 2, which made landfall in the early morning of July 17th, damaged many stainless steel water tanks, causing approximately 20 billion VND in losses. Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh expressed his sympathy for the damage and encouraged the company to quickly repair the damage to stabilize production.

In Dien Chau district, the Provincial Party Secretary personally inspected the deployment of militia and self-defense forces, and the district military command, to coordinate with the provincial border guard in searching for the crew members of the VTB 26 vessel along the coast of Dien Trung, Dien Thinh, and Dien Thanh communes. The Provincial Party Secretary requested that the forces closely monitor the area and intensify the search along the coast of these localities.

Also in Dien Chau district, Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh inspected the damage caused by typhoon No. 2 in Dien Trung, Dien Thinh, and Dien Thanh communes.

Local leaders said that agricultural damage was extensive, especially the 2,000 hectares of sesame crops, which were only 15 days away from harvest, that were flattened by the storm. The Provincial Party Secretary instructed the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to accompany the delegation and develop a plan to support those affected and alleviate some of the difficulties for farmers.
