Commune Party Secretary failed to become a People's Council delegate, self-nominated citizen was elected again

A resident of Xuan Lien commune (Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh) who ran for election was elected by the people as a representative of the People's Council of Xuan Lien commune for the 2016-2021 term. Meanwhile, the Party Secretary of Xuan Lien commune was not elected to the People's Council.

On June 3, the Nghi Xuan District Election Committee (Ha Tinh) announced that in the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2016-2021 term, in the locality, Mr. Hoang Van Cat - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Xuan Lien Commune for the 2010-2015 term failed to become a People's Council deputy.

Meanwhile, Mr. To Ngoc Dinh (farming in Cuong Thinh village, Xuan Lien commune) ran for the People's Council of Xuan Lien commune and was elected.

Both Mr. Cat and Mr. Dinh are running for the People's Council of Xuan Lien commune at polling station No. 7. Polling station No. 7 has 412 voters with seven candidates to elect four delegates.

The election results were taken from top to bottom, Mr. Cat got 50% of the votes but lost to Mr. Dinh, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tham (Chairman of Xuan Lien Commune People's Committee), Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyen (Chairman of Xuan Lien Commune Fatherland Front Committee) and Secretary of Cuong Thinh Village (Xuan Lien Commune).

Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam, Chairman of the District People's Committee, Chairman of the Nghi Xuan District Election Committee, said: "Regarding organizational work, the Party Secretary of Xuan Lien Commune who did not win the People's Council delegate will still be the Commune Secretary but will not concurrently hold the position of Chairman of the Commune People's Council. Another person must be assigned to be Chairman of the Commune People's Council."
