On February 1st, Brand Finance, a strategic consulting and brand valuation firm, announced the results of its 2016 valuation of banks worldwide. Three Vietnamese commercial banks made it into the global top 500.
BIDV is valued as the leading banking brand in Vietnam; ranked 26th in ASEAN and 401st in the world. BIDV's brand value reached US$255 million, an increase of 12 positions compared to 2016.
The brand valuation methodology used by Brand Finance is the only one accepted by the IRS, HMRC, and ATO – internationally renowned and large-scale tax and regulatory agencies. In the 2017 list of the world's 500 most valuable bank brands, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) replaced Wells Fargo (USA) to take the top spot. For the first time, China surpassed the US to become the country with the highest total brand value among banks (in the top 500).
Brand Finance's rankings are certified to meet the global standard ISO 10.668. The prestigious industry magazine The Banker publishes this list in its annual February issue.
