No left turn and no U-turn signs - many drivers still get confused

Drivers are allowed to make a U-turn when they come across a no left turn sign, but many drivers are not yet fully aware of this change.

According to the old 2012 standard, the no left turn sign (P123a) meant prohibiting vehicles from making a U-turn. However, since 2016, the new standard 41 issued by the Ministry of Transport (effective from November 1) stipulates that the no left turn sign is no longer valid for prohibiting vehicles from making a U-turn.

Specifically, "To prohibit left or right turns (in the direction of the arrow) at intersections, a sign prohibiting left or right turns must be placed; the sign does not prohibit U-turns."

With the no left turn sign reserved for cars (P103c) in Regulation 41/2016, the concept of "prohibiting cars from turning left means prohibiting U-turns as well" does not exist.

Regarding the prohibition of U-turns, the standard has added new signs with specific regulations: Prohibition of left turns and U-turns; Prohibition of right turns and U-turns; Prohibition of left turns and U-turns; Prohibition of right turns and U-turns.
