A sea of people waited through the night to bid farewell to the General Secretary for the last time.
Amidst the silent line of people queuing to enter the funeral home at 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street (Hanoi) on the evening of July 25th, many women burst into tears upon seeing the coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
At 8 PM on July 25th, at the intersection of Nguyen Cao and Le Quy Don streets, a line of people stretched for kilometers waiting to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Most of these people were rushing home from work to fulfill their wish to bid farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Many hadn't even had time to eat dinner.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha tearfully shared her feelings after paying her respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: "I am in so much pain, as if I have lost a family member. When will our country have another person like him?"

Standing quietly in a corner, young Phan Thi Tam expressed: "I feel sad and deeply moved to pay my respects to Uncle Trong. Tomorrow I will try to arrange my work so I can see him off on his final journey."

At 9:30 PM, crowds filled many streets near the funeral home, such as Han Thuyen, Hang Chuoi, Lo Duc, and Nguyen Cong Tru.

Inside the funeral home, many people wept uncontrollably upon seeing the coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
On the evening of July 25th, crowds continued to flock to the General Secretary's hometown in Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district to pay their respects.

Inside the cultural center's courtyard, where the memorial service was being held, people solemnly lined up in single file and entered one by one.

Among them were many people from the provinces and from within Hanoi who wanted to see the hometown of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Despite the cool weather, the staff still used hand fans to help visitors attending the funeral.

Ms. Hoang Thi Ly brought her 2-month-old child to bid farewell to the General Secretary. "Hopefully, this will be a rare and beautiful memory so that later my child can know about a respected Party leader of our country," she shared.

Mr. Chien Thang, a famous actor, also returned to Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, to bid farewell to the respected leader.

At the Lai Da village cultural center tonight, everyone walked softly, spoke quietly, and the atmosphere was solemn, a stark contrast to the usual scene in a place often filled with large crowds.

To accommodate the public paying their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the memorial service at the National Funeral Home will continue until midnight on July 25th, instead of ending at 10 PM as initially announced.
On July 26th, the viewing ceremony will take place from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM. The burial will be at 3:00 PM on the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.
