Amid the silent queue of people lining up to enter the funeral home at 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi) on the evening of July 25, many women burst into tears upon seeing the coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
At 8:00 p.m. on July 25, at the Nguyen Cao - Le Quy Don intersection, a kilometer-long line of people waited to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Most of them were people who had come here after work to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Many had not had time to have dinner.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha choked up as she shared her feelings after visiting General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: "I am in so much pain, as if I had lost a family member. When will our country have another person like you?"

Standing quietly in a corner, young Phan Thi Tam expressed: "I feel sad and very emotional when I come to visit Uncle Trong. Tomorrow I will try to arrange my work to see him off on his final journey."

At 9:30 p.m., crowds filled many streets near the funeral home such as Han Thuyen, Hang Chuoi, Lo Duc, and Nguyen Cong Tru.

Inside the funeral home, many people cried when they saw the coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
On the evening of July 25, people still flocked to the General Secretary's hometown in Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district to pay their respects to him.

Inside the cultural house yard, where the funeral was held, everyone solemnly lined up and entered one by one.

Among them, many people from the provinces and Hanoi's inner city came here because they wanted to see the hometown of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Despite the cool weather, the service team still used hand fans to support visitors.

Ms. Hoang Thi Ly brought her 2-month-old child to say goodbye to the General Secretary. "I hope this will be a rare and beautiful memory so that in the future my child can get to know a respected Party leader of the country," she shared.

Mr. Chien Thang, a famous actor, also came to Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune to bid farewell to the respected leader.

At the Lai Da village cultural house tonight, everyone walked lightly and spoke softly, the solemn atmosphere was completely different from usual in a place where people often gather.

To serve the people visiting General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the funeral at the National Funeral Home will last until 12:00 a.m. on July 25, instead of ending at 10:00 p.m. as originally announced.
On July 26, the visitation starts from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. The burial will be at 3:00 p.m. the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.
