Transforming drying yards into sand collection points in Thai Hoa town.

According to residents of Bac Ninh hamlet, a sand and gravel storage area has recently appeared in the drying yard of a coffee business in the area. Every day, many large trucks bring sand and gravel to this site, and at night, they load it onto tractor-trailers to transport it elsewhere for sale. Notably, this situation has been ongoing for a long time, affecting residents' lives, damaging roads, and causing environmental pollution, yet it remains unaddressed.

A resident of Bac Ninh hamlet said: "Every day, many Howo trucks carrying sand arrive and stockpile at this site, and by dusk, they are transported elsewhere by long-wheelbase trucks. Because the road connecting Provincial Road 545 (now named Hai Thuong Lan Ong Road) to the stockpiling site is a short, winding concrete road, the trucks carrying sand often spill sand, causing environmental pollution and damaging the hamlet's road."

Some residents are upset that heavy trucks carrying sand are constantly entering and exiting the area without any inspection or action from the authorities. At times, long-wheelbase trucks carrying sand have even collided with walls, damaging residents' houses.

Present at the aforementioned sand quarry on the morning of November 7th, we witnessed numerous trucks carrying sand and dumping it at the collection point. In fact, the ground even shook as the heavy trucks passed by.

According to our investigation, the land in question belongs to Thai Hoa Nghe An Company, part of Thai Hoa Vietnam Group, chaired and managed by Mr. Nguyen Van An (born in 1956). The group comprises 15 member companies, including Thai Hoa Hoa Binh, Thai Hoa Lam Dong, Thai Hoa Laos, Thai Hoa Quang Tri, Thai Hoa Son La, Thai Hoa Buon Ma Thuot, Thai Hoa Nghe An, An Giang Coffee, etc., primarily operating in the coffee sector.

This plot of land has a total area of ​​18,898 square meters.², used as a drying yard and warehouse for agricultural products. In addition, this unit also leases approximately 3,700m².²However, based on actual observations, the land areas under the management of Thai Hoa Nghe An Company have now been leased to other entities for use as warehouses and sand storage yards, as mentioned above. They are even being used as scrap metal collection points.

Speaking to us, Mr. Duong Dinh Duong, Chairman of the Tay Hieu Commune People's Committee, said that after learning about the incident, they will conduct an investigation and provide specific information.

Surprisingly, Ms. Tran Thi Tinh, Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Thai Hoa Town People's Committee, claimed that she was unaware that the two plots of land mentioned above were leased by Thai Hoa Nghe An Company.
