Recently, in an interview on the British television program This Morning, billionaire Bill Gates shared why he did not leave his $81 billion fortune to his children, but instead used the majority of his wealth for charitable activities.

"My children will receive an excellent education and a financial guarantee to ensure they will not fall into poverty," shared the Microsoft founder. Bill Gates believes that his two daughters and one son will receive a good education so they can start their own careers instead of relying on his vast fortune.

"Giving your children a huge fortune isn't good for them. It will affect what they can achieve in forging their own path," the world's richest billionaire added.

In addition, Bill Gayes revealed that his children understand their father's decision and feel "proud" that he has dedicated his fortune to helping the poorest people in the world.

Bill Gates and his wife Melinda have three children together: two daughters, Jennifer (20 years old) and Phobe (14 years old), and one son, Rory (17 years old).

Jennifer is currently a sophomore at Stanford University, where her father donated $6.1 million to build a building named after him for the computer science department. Meanwhile, her other two children, Rory and Phoebe, still live with Bill Gates and his wife in their suburban mansion in Seattle, Washington.

Previously, Bill Gates stated that he would leave only a very small portion of his enormous fortune to his children. The remainder of Gates's estate would be used for charity through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which the billionaire and his wife run.
