BMW has just introduced the 2026 iX1 in China with four variants, focusing on improved 5G connectivity and optimized equipment packages, with a starting price of 228,000 Yuan.

According to information from Phoenix Network Technology on January 21st, the 2026 BMW iX1 compact electric SUV has been officially introduced to the Chinese market. This is an annual facelift, focusing primarily on improving the digital experience and refining the options to better suit the needs of modern users.

Upgrading to 5G standard connectivity infrastructure.

The most notable change on the 2026 BMW iX1 is that all four trim levels now feature upgraded 5G connectivity. Integrating this high-speed connection standard makes online services, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and in-car entertainment experiences smoother, significantly reducing latency compared to the previous generation.

In terms of features, BMW has decided to remove the "BMW Digital Key Plus" option on the new version. At the same time, some names within the M Sport package have been adjusted to align with the company's product lineup in this market.

Interior space and iDrive 9 entertainment system

Inside the cabin, the 2026 BMW iX1 maintains the familiar design style of its predecessor. The focus is on the modern BMW iDrive 9 infotainment system, operated via a distinctive curved display cluster. This cluster includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen central display, offering intuitive interaction and excellent support for localized applications.

The overall dimensions of the vehicle remain unchanged, with length x width x height measuring 4,616 x 1,845 x 1,641 (mm) respectively. The wheelbase is 2,802 mm, ensuring ample legroom for both rows of seats, a significant advantage of the iX1 in the compact luxury electric SUV segment.

Operating specifications and engine options

The 2026 BMW iX1's powertrain continues to offer two performance configurations for users to choose from depending on their needs:

  • Single-engine version:With a maximum power output of 150 kW, it's ideal for urban commuting, offering flexibility and energy efficiency.
  • Two-engine version:Equipped with a full-time all-wheel drive system, delivering a total power output of 230 kW, it's optimized for customers who prioritize a sporty driving feel and excellent traction.

All versions share the same 66.45 kWh battery pack. According to CLTC test standards, the single-motor version has an all-electric range of 450 km, while the twin-motor version can travel up to 510 km on a single charge.

Pricing and market positioning

In the Chinese market, the 2026 BMW iX1 is listed at a price ranging from 228,000 to 268,000 Yuan. This is equivalent to approximately US$31,700–US$37,250, or VND 776.5 million to VND 912.7 million at current exchange rates.

With the addition of 5G connectivity and maintaining a stable range of specifications, the 2026 BMW iX1 continues to strengthen its competitive position in the luxury electric vehicle segment for young families in the Chinese market.
