Nghi Cong Nam is a mountainous, predominantly agricultural commune located in the western part of Nghi Loc district, separated from the old Nghi Cong commune on April 10, 2002. The commune's terrain is diverse and complex, with a large area of ​​hills and mountains, posing a high risk of forest fires, especially in the forest area on Dai Hue mountain bordering Nam Thanh and Nam Anh communes of Nam Dan district.

To help mitigate the risk of forest fires in the commune, officers and soldiers of Regiment 764, in coordination with the commune's militia, cleared trees and opened a 900-meter-long access road for forest fire prevention and control from Hamlet 2 to the forest area in Sub-area 968 on the summit of Dai Hue Mountain; they also created a firebreak nearly 2.5 km long and 8 meters wide; contributing to preventing the spread of fires between Nghi Loc and Nam Dan districts.

Contributing to Nghi Cong Nam commune's early achievement of the new rural commune goal by 2019, Regiment 764 organized its officers and soldiers to dredge and clear nearly 1.5 km of the main irrigation canal leading water to the commune's fields, which had been silted up with rocks and soil; they also cleaned up village roads and alleys and dredged more than 500 m of canals in residential area 2.

In addition, the unit coordinated with the local youth union and women's association to organize sports exchanges and cultural exchange nights titled "Deepening the Bond Between Soldiers and Civilians," creating a joyful, enthusiastic atmosphere and fostering solidarity and close ties between officers, soldiers, and the people.

On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th, Colonel Vuong Kim Hai - Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command and the commander of Regiment 764 presented 10 gifts (each worth 500,000 VND) to policy beneficiary families and disadvantaged families in the commune. In addition, the regiment organized its officers and soldiers to cooperate with youth union members in cleaning up and holding a candlelight ceremony at the Nghi Cong Nam Commune Martyrs Cemetery.

After nearly two weeks of implementing the motto "eating together, living together, working together" with the people, Regiment 764 successfully completed its field exercise and civilian outreach mission in Nghi Cong Nam commune, leaving a positive impression on local officials and people; contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people in the area where it is stationed.
