The Ministry of Public Security has just dismantled a large-scale gambling ring worth over 300 billion VND, arresting two suspected ringleaders of this massive gambling operation.

On January 10th, leaders of the Department of Cybercrime Prevention and Control (C50) of the Ministry of Public Security announced that they had coordinated with the Criminal Police Department (C45) of the Ministry of Public Security to dismantle a large-scale gambling ring worth over 300 billion VND. Police forces arrested and conducted urgent searches of the residences of two suspected ringleaders: La Tung Thinh (53 years old, residing in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) and Lu Vinh Loi (53 years old, residing in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City).

According to initial information, in mid-2016, C50 discovered a large-scale online gambling ring operating through the Vwin website... with transaction amounts exceeding 300 billion VND.

The Vwin website is built and managed by a company in the Philippines and has been operating since 2013. This company organizes gambling in various forms such as sports betting, online casino, and online lottery. To participate in gambling, players must create an account on the website and deposit money into their account.

After a period of investigation and surveillance, on the night of January 9th, C50, in coordination with C45, divided into multiple teams in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to arrest and search the residences of the two "bosses," Loi and Thinh, and several other suspects.

Initially, the suspects confessed to gambling and organizing online gambling. Currently, the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security is conducting an investigation to clarify the case.
