Nghe An Border Guard initiates legal proceedings against 5 individuals for human trafficking.
On January 16th, the Muong Ai Border Guard Station, Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command, announced that it had initiated criminal proceedings for "Human Trafficking" against five individuals involved in incidents dating back to 2013.
The individuals charged include: Luong Thi Chien (born 1979), Lo Thi Nhan (born 1978), both residing in Chieu Luu commune; Luong Thi Hoa (born 1969), Nguyen Thi Diu (born 1982) and Nguyen Van Phong (born 1970), all residing in Huu Kiem commune, Nghe An province.
Previously, based on a complaint from victim Xeo Thi Dung, the Nghe An Border Guard Command established special case NA126p in coordination with the People's Procuracy of Region 12 and the Nghe An Provincial Police to investigate and clarify the human trafficking ring across the border. The investigation determined that Luong Thi Chien directly transported the victim across the border and sold her to China, earning an illegal profit of 20,000 yuan (approximately 60 million VND). The remaining individuals were accomplices in the ring.
Currently, the Nghe An Border Guard Command is finalizing the dossiers and handing over the suspects to the relevant authorities for processing according to the law.
