The Border Guard of Nghe An province won second prize in the Neighboring Language Contest.

On November 15th, in Hanoi, the Border Guard Command held the closing ceremony of the 2024 Border Guard Language Competition (China, Laos, Cambodia).

Major General Nguyen Van Thien - Deputy Commander of the Border Guard Force - attended and delivered the closing speech at the competition.

The competition at the Command level had 9 participating units, including the Border Guard units of the provinces of Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Kon Tum, Dak Nong, and Tay Ninh, with 110 participants.

With elaborate presentations including PowerPoint slides, video clips, props, singing and dancing, and illustrative images of the unit's activities; combined with the use of the neighboring country's language while performing tasks... the performances participating in the competition demonstrated and spread the solidarity and close ties between the State, Army, and People of Vietnam with neighboring countries, especially in border areas.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded Certificates of Commendation from the Border Guard Command to 9 collectives and 9 individuals.

In particular, the Border Guard Team of Nghe An province won second prize in the Lao language category; Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Dao, a professional military officer and interpreter at the Staff Department of the Border Guard of Nghe An province, won third prize in the individual category.

In his closing remarks at the competition, Major General Nguyen Van Thien, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, commended the organizing committee, the agencies of the Border Guard Command, and the Border Guard schools for their excellent preparation and meticulous management of the competition. He also praised the contestants for their high sense of responsibility and for overcoming all difficulties to successfully complete the competition.

Major General Nguyen Van Thien suggested that, based on the results of the competition, the participating teams should continue to advise their respective Party Committees and Commands on effectively implementing foreign language training and development in general, and the languages ​​of neighboring countries in particular, and applying them effectively in carrying out their duties, especially in coordinating border management and protection, border gates, and foreign affairs, contributing to enhancing solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the State, Army, and People of Vietnam and the State, Army, and People of China, Laos, and Cambodia.
