According to a statement from the French President's office, Finance Minister Michel Sapin will replace Mr. Macron as Minister of Economy, and continue to hold the position of Minister of Finance.
The reason given was that Mr. Macron wanted to devote all his time to the political movement "En Marche" (Forward) that he founded in April. Mr. Macron's move to establish his own movement has "stirred up" French politics and is considered a "challenge" to outgoing President Francois Hollande.
In addition, the reason he resigned from his position as Minister was to “regain his freedom” and focus on building a “transformation plan” for France.
The resignation has fueled speculation that Macron, 38, will run for president next year. The first round of voting in the French presidential election will take place on April 23, 2017.
It is known that Mr. Macron was a prestigious banking expert and advisor to President Hollande, before being appointed to the position of Minister of Economy in 2014. Since then, Mr. Macron has quickly become one of the brightest politicians in French politics./.
