US Army Secretary: UAVs are a threat to humanity
The US Army Secretary has called drones a threat to humanity, citing the conflict in Ukraine as a prime example.

According to RIA Novosti, US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll said that drones pose a threat to human life, of which the conflict in Ukraine is a typical example.
"This is a threat to all of humanity. What's happening in Ukraine and what's happening in Russia, if you look at the speed and scale of destruction that drones can cause, the federal government is considering ways to address this problem," US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll said in an interview with CBS on November 16.
Under President Donald Trump's leadership, the United States is now moving quickly to improve its lagging position in the field of unmanned technology, said Mr. Driscoll.
Secretary Driscoll previously said that Washington was forced to reconsider spending on military equipment, in part because Russia could produce a million drones in 12 months. Mr. Driscoll warned that the US could not afford to buy a multi-million dollar device that could be destroyed by an “$800 drone.”
The US Army Secretary said in early November that the country plans to buy at least 1 million drones in the next two to three years and could buy between half a million and several million a year after that. Driscoll added that a major expansion of the drone procurement program would pose a significant challenge, as the US military’s largest branch currently buys only about 50,000 drones a year.
