According to a representative from the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information, under the Ministry of Information and Communications, Pokémon GO is currently undergoing careful consideration regarding its impact on players and society.

The Pokémon GO craze has spread to many places around the world, including Vietnam. Currently, it's commonplace to see fans of the game engrossed in hunting Pokémon on their phones. Not only pedestrians, but also many motorcyclists are absorbed in their phones searching for Pokémon. Some countries have even had to issue bans on the Pokémon GO game.

In Vietnam, many have expressed concerns that this craze will lead to addiction. Doctors even suggest that Pokémon GO addiction can cause hallucinations and compromise players' safety. Furthermore, potential risks associated with addiction include phone theft, traffic accidents, and falls. The game has even been criticized for potentially impacting national security.

Mr. Le Quang Tu Do – Deputy Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, under the Ministry of Information and Communications – stated: “Pokémon GO has only been released in Vietnam for a relatively short time. Therefore, we still need more time to assess the impact of this game, especially its negative impact on society and on players, particularly young people. Based on this, the Ministry of Information and Communications will decide whether or not to ban it. Currently, the Ministry's policy is to issue warnings to exercise caution before using the game.”

He also emphasized: "Regarding Pokémon GO in particular and online video games in general, the Ministry has set forth a policy for domestic and foreign online game publishers that they must all comply with Vietnamese law. If they do not comply, we will be forced to take measures to protect players and build a healthy online environment."

But first and foremost, the Ministry of Information and Communications remains very cautious, carefully considering, monitoring, and reviewing the impact of Pokémon GO on Vietnamese players.
