After authorities announced a list of 573 counterfeit milk brands, several famous artists were named, including People's Artist Hong Van, Doan Quoc Dam, MC Hoang Linh, MC Van Hugo, and TV presenter Quang Minh...
With the current development of social media, many singers, actors, and celebrities participate in advertising products online, causing consumers to be caught in a "maze" of unverified information. False advertising and exaggeration of product benefits have also led many artists to issue apologies.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh stated that new realities necessitate amendments to the Advertising Law. During the amendment process, the Ministry received many insightful contributions and added several specific provisions to regulate the behavior of celebrities and artists participating in advertising.
Accordingly, the Advertising Law is being amended to include provisions clearly defining the responsibilities of artists and celebrities when participating in product advertising. They must verify information transparently and be held legally responsible for the content they convey.
It is expected that the decree guiding the amendment to the Law will include strong sanctions such as banning advertising, restricting artistic activities, or limiting appearances on media and social networks for individuals who violate the law.

Responding to a reporter's question about the Ministry of Health's recent request for relevant units to strictly handle cases of artists making false advertisements and selling counterfeit milk, a representative from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that they have assigned the Department of Performing Arts to investigate and will provide specific information to the press.
Speaking to reporters, People's Artist Xuan Bac - Director of the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) affirmed the Department's stance in a recent response, stating: "It is commendable for artists and celebrities to use the trust and attention of the public to spread positive values in society. If they introduce products they have used, have had good experiences with, and want to share with the community, it should be encouraged. However, cases of exploiting fame to intentionally advertise falsely or exaggerate the benefits of a product need to be investigated and appropriate measures taken."
According to People's Artist Xuan Bac, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has already issued a Code of Conduct for Artists and a Code of Conduct on the Internet. In the near future, the Department of Performing Arts will advise the Ministry on regulations to bind and regulate behavior, and raise awareness among artists. This will help artists develop political and social awareness, become responsible citizens, and spread positive values.
