Stoke City started the match better and took the lead twice in the first half thanks to Choupo-Moting (28') and Kurt Zouma (45+1'). However, due to their weak defense, Stoke City could not protect their advantage against Brighton's strong rise. The two players who scored the equalizer for Brighton were Pascal Gross (44') and Jose Izquierdo (60').

With this draw, the two teams are stuck in the same place on the rankings. Brighton is ranked 9th with 16 points, while Stoke City is ranked 15th with 13 points.
