Candles blaze brightly in this night of gratitude.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, on the evening of July 26th, localities throughout the province respectfully organized candle-lighting ceremonies to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs at the martyrs' cemeteries in their respective districts.

* At the Martyrs' CemeteryDo Luong districtThe District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, and District Youth Union organized a ceremony to lay flowers, offer incense, and light candles in remembrance of the heroic martyrs.

The Do Luong District Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of 2,200 Vietnamese martyrs and volunteer military experts who bravely sacrificed their lives in the protracted resistance wars against foreign invaders to protect the Fatherland and in carrying out international duties in Laos.

To commemorate and express profound gratitude to the 4,036 beloved sons and daughters of the district who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives, the Youth Union members lit 2,200 candles on the graves of the martyrs. The heroic sacrifice of these martyrs has further enhanced the indomitable heroic tradition of the nation in the face of all enemies.

* TOver 500 graves at the Martyrs' CemeteryYen Thanh districtDelegates and over 400 students from Phan Dang Luu High School and Yen Thanh 2 High School, along with a large number of people from the district, respectfully offered incense and lit candles to the souls of the heroic martyrs, expressing their heartfelt gratitude and determination for the sacrifices and heroic deeds of generations of ancestors who fought for national independence, national unity, and the happiness of the people.

Also at the ceremony, the Yen Thanh Cultural and Sports Center performed the art program "Drinking Water, Remembering the Source," with 10 outstanding artistic performances praising the glorious Party, the great President Ho Chi Minh, the heroic fighting and sacrifices of our army and people in the long marches to save the country and the renewal and progress of our homeland.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Yen Thanh district presented 30 gifts, each worth 300,000 VND, to the relatives of martyrs and exemplary war invalids in the four central communes of the district.

The candlelight vigil is a tribute to express the profound gratitude of the younger generation for the heroic sacrifices of the nation's outstanding sons and daughters in the struggle for national liberation and reunification. It is also an activity aimed at educating the younger generation about patriotism, pride in the history and revolutionary traditions of their ancestors, and thus clearly defining their responsibilities in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

Bowing respectfully before each grave, amidst the ethereal smoke of incense and the flickering candlelight, the Party Committee and people of Nam Dan district solemnly pledge to the heroic martyrs that they rest in the embrace of Mother Earth. Their noble sacrifices will forever be an immortal epic, a source of pride for their homeland and country. Today's young generation will follow in the footsteps of their ancestors, dedicating their youthful energy to building the nation and homeland, and resolutely defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.
