Light up the candles in the night of gratitude

(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, on the evening of July 26, localities in the province respectfully held candle lighting ceremonies to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the martyrs' cemeteries in the district.

* At the Martyrs' CemeteryDo Luong district, District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and District Youth Union organized flower offering, incense offering and candle lighting to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.

Do Luong District Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of 2,200 martyrs and Vietnamese volunteer military experts who heroically sacrificed their lives in the long-term resistance war against foreign invaders to protect the Fatherland and carry out international missions in Laos.

To commemorate and express deep gratitude to the 4,036 beloved sons of the district who fought and sacrificed heroically, the Youth Union members lit 2,200 candles on the graves of the martyrs. The heroic sacrifice of the martyrs has highlighted the nation's heroic and indomitable tradition against all enemies.

Also at the ceremony, Yen Thanh Cultural and Sports Center performed the art program "Drinking water, remember its source", with 10 unique art performances, praising the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, the heroic sacrifices of our army and people in the long marches to save the country and the renovation of our homeland and country.

On this occasion, Yen Thanh District People's Committee presented 30 gifts, each worth 300,000 VND, to relatives of martyrs and outstanding war invalids in 4 communes in the central area of ​​the district.

The candle lighting ceremony aims to express the deep gratitude of the young generation for the heroic sacrifice of the nation's outstanding sons in the struggle for national liberation and national reunification. This is also an activity to educate the young generation about patriotism, pride in the history and revolutionary fighting tradition of previous generations, thereby clearly defining their responsibilities in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
