Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Cong Tac has been dismissed from his position.

Disciplinary action in the form of dismissal has been taken against Mr. Pham Cong Tac, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, due to very serious violations and shortcomings in his work.

The decision states: Disciplinary action in the form of dismissal is imposed on Mr. Pham Cong Tac, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, due to very serious violations and shortcomings in his work; the Politburo and the Secretariat have already taken disciplinary action within the Party.

* Earlier, on June 4th, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of the Politburo and the Secretariat to consider and implement disciplinary measures against the Party Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology for the 2016-2021 term.

After considering the proposal of the Central Inspection Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Central Committee found that the violations and shortcomings of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology during the 2016-2021 term had serious consequences. Mr. Pham Cong Tac, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, had deteriorated in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; violated Party regulations and State laws; violated the Regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and the Regulations on the responsibility of setting an example; caused very serious consequences, resulting in significant losses and waste of state budget; affected the work of preventing and controlling the COVID-19 epidemic; caused public outrage; and negatively affected the prestige of the Party organization and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Based on the content, nature, extent of consequences, and causes of the violations, and in accordance with the Party's regulations on disciplinary action against Party organizations and members, the Politburo decided to impose a Warning on the Party Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology for the 2016-2021 term. The Secretariat decided to expel Mr. Pham Cong Tac from the Party.
