For nearly a decade now, the family of Mr. Nguyen Hong Cong in Trung Nghia ward has enjoyed a relatively comfortable life thanks to their pomelo orchard. With an area of 1.4 hectares, his family cultivates 400 Quang Tien pink pomelo trees, making them one of the largest pomelo growers in Quang Tien ward.
He expects to sell approximately 25 to 30 tons of pomelos this harvest season. Compared to previous years, this year's harvest is bountiful and the prices are good. He estimates that at current prices, he will earn a profit of over 600 million VND. To successfully cultivate Quang Tien pink pomelos, he spent a lot of time visiting and learning from experienced growers, researching pomelo varieties, and cultivation techniques.

Mr. Le Van Thang from Le Loi neighborhood said: “This year's pomelo harvest is much better than in previous years. The trees are less affected by pests and diseases, and they yield more fruit. My family has nearly 170 trees, with each tree averaging 120-180 fruits. Last year, the selling price at the orchard was only 20-22 thousand VND/kg, but this year it has increased by 1.5 times, currently ranging from 25-30 thousand VND/kg. After deducting expenses, we expect to earn nearly 200 million VND per year.”

Quang Tien pink pomelos are purchased directly from the orchards by traders and sold in neighboring provinces and cities. This year, despite the erratic weather affecting the trees' growth, careful pre- and post-harvest care has resulted in a bountiful harvest and good prices for Quang Tien pink pomelos.
Quang Tien pink pomelos are popular with customers because of their smooth, juicy segments, pink flesh, crisp texture, and sweet, refreshing taste. Unlike other pomelo varieties, they don't leave a bitter aftertaste. Each fruit weighs between 1.5 and 2 kg, and each tree, depending on its age, can bear 100 to 200 fruits, yielding approximately 250 to 300 kg per tree.

This year, grapefruit growers are not only delighted that their product has been recognized as a clean agricultural brand, but also because the application of scientific and technological advancements in production has resulted in a bountiful harvest and good prices for their grapefruit trees.
To build the Quang Tien pink pomelo brand, in early 2017, Thai Hoa town linked pomelo growers in Quang Tien ward and Nghia Tien commune to apply the JICA project's cultivation process. The project's goal was to apply scientific and technical methods to production in a safe manner, creating uniformity in color and weight of the pomelo fruit.
