The large-scale cosmos flower island in Tan Thanh ward (Ca Mau province) is becoming a popular destination attracting thousands of visitors for free check-ins during the Lunar New Year.
Located in an urban area on Tran Hung Dao Street, Tan Thanh Ward, the butterfly-shaped flower island, spanning over 2.5 hectares, is currently the center of attention in Ca Mau. Designed in the shape of a flower surrounded by a lake, it is recognized as the largest cosmos flower garden in the locality to date.
Scale and vibrant colors in the heart of the city.
To create this vibrant carpet of flowers, the team sowed over 50 kg of seeds in a variety of colors such as velvet red, white, orange, and yellow, with pink playing a dominant role. Cosmos flowers (also known as butterfly flowers) are herbaceous plants belonging to the daisy family, originating from Mexico, and are known for their ability to withstand harsh weather conditions and their ease of care.
The project was completed in early February after two months of land preparation and planting. According to the management unit, the flowers began to bloom one month after planting and can maintain their beauty for about two months, serving the needs of visitors throughout the Lunar New Year holiday.
Experience the sights and architectural highlights.
Every day, the flower island welcomes thousands of visitors who come to admire the scenery and take photos. The space here is optimized for walking, with small paths interwoven among the flower gardens. In particular, the walking paths are paved with thousands of heart-shaped bricks, painted in harmonious colors, creating a unique aesthetic highlight for the landscape.
Pham Anh Thy (15 years old, a resident of Tan Thanh ward) shared her surprise at the scale of the flower garden right in the middle of the residential area. According to Thy, this is an ideal green space and an interesting destination for local people in the early days of the new year.
Practical information and travel experiences.
To get the best photos and avoid the harsh sun, visitors should choose to visit during two peak hours: morning from 6 am to 8 am and afternoon from 3 pm to 5 pm. This is also when the flower garden is busiest.
Regarding the implementation process, since the beginning of December 2025, the land has been treated for salinity, leveled, and equipped with a professional electricity and irrigation system. Ms. Vo Thi Bich Tuyen, representative of the Happy Home urban development unit, said that the flower island was built with the goal of creating a green space and a free resting place for the community.
The emergence of large-scale public spaces like the butterfly flower island not only beautifies the urban landscape but also contributes to promoting local tourism, providing more quality entertainment options for the people of Ca Mau during festivals.
