Carrots are in season and fetching good prices in Quynh Mai.
These days, farmers in the former Quynh Lien area, Quynh Mai ward (Nghe An province) are entering the main carrot harvest season with great enthusiasm. This year, the local crop not only yielded a good harvest but also fetched good prices, bringing in a considerable income and contributing to the stability of people's lives.

The Quỳnh Liên (formerly) coastal area currently has over 350 hectares of vegetable crops, of which nearly 80 hectares are planted with carrots. Thanks to suitable soil conditions, carrots have become a staple crop for many years.main crops, which is highly economically efficient and serves as the primary source of income for many households.
Carrots have a growing season of about 3-3.5 months, making them suitable for winter crop production. They are easy to care for, resistant to pests and diseases, require low investment costs, but yield high productivity. The average yield is 1.8-2 tons per sao (approximately 1000 square meters), with some well-managed areas achieving up to 2.2 tons per sao.

This year, favorable weather conditions have resulted in good carrot growth, with uniformly sized and attractive roots. In addition, the current market price for carrots ranges from 9,000 to 10,000 VND per kilogram. At this price, each plot of land planted with carrots yields a revenue of 18-20 million VND, and after deducting expenses, growers still make a considerable profit.
This year, Mr. Tran Van Canh's family (Dai Dong Hamlet, Quynh Mai Ward) planted nearly 7 sao (approximately 0.7 hectares) of carrots, yielding about 14 tons. "This year the weather was favorable, the carrots had few pests and diseases, the yield was high, and the price was good, so the family is very happy. Compared to many other crops, carrots offer a clear economic benefit," Mr. Canh shared.

Sharing in the joy, Mr. Ho Ba Si's family (Binh Minh hamlet) harvested over 8 tons of carrots from their 4.5 sao (approximately 0.45 hectares). "The carrots grew well, the tubers were uniform, and they sold at a good price, so the income is significantly higher than in previous years. The people are very reassured and have more motivation to stick with this crop," Mr. Si said.
The bumper crop and high prices of carrots not only help improve the lives of people in the coastal area of Quynh Lien but also demonstrate the effectiveness of choosing crops suitable to the natural conditions, opening up prospects for sustainable agricultural development in Quynh Mai ward in the future.
