Florida police received a call last night after a fisherman spotted two alligators hovering around a human body.

According to CNN, at the scene in the canal of Southwest Ranches town, alligators were surrounding the body that was no longer intact.

"It appears the crocodile ate the carcass," said police spokesman Officer Pablo Castaneda.

The two crocodiles initially lingered near the carcass, despite being chased away by police. Eventually, the police had to call in a crocodile hunter with a rifle.

US officials ruled out the possibility of an alligator attack and said it could have been a murder, suicide or accident. The body had been submerged in water for quite some time, and the cause of death is still unknown.
