Florida police received a call last night after a fisherman spotted two alligators circling a body.

According to CNN, at the scene in the canal of Southwest Ranches, a group of alligators were surrounding a mutilated carcass.

"It appears that crocodiles have been feeding on the carcass," said Officer Pablo Castaneda, a police spokesman.

The two crocodiles initially lingered near the carcass, despite being chased away by the police. Eventually, the police had to call in crocodile hunters with rifles.

US officials ruled out the possibility of an alligator attack and said it could be a murder, suicide, or accident. The body had been submerged in water for quite some time, and the cause of death remains unclear.
