Singer Phi Nhung has passed away.
Singer Phi Nhung passed away at 11:57 AM on September 28th at Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, after a month and a half of treatment for Covid-19, at the age of 51.
The information has been confirmed by Cho Ray Hospital. The situation ofPhi NhungHer condition began to worsen on September 21st. During treatment, she was placed on a ventilator, underwent dialysis, and received ECMO intervention... but there was not much positive improvement.

Before contracting Covid-19, Phi Nhung actively participated in charitable kitchens, cooking meals for frontline workers, distributing gifts to those in need, and raising funds to purchase ventilators for Cho Ray Hospital. The singer wanted to do her best to help her compatriots before returning to the US to meet her overseas audience. However, after close contact with several Covid-19 cases, she felt unwell, like she had a cold, so she got tested and found out she was positive. This was also the reason she canceled her flight and missed her show in the US.
On September 26th, Phi Nhung's media representative shared that in July, the singer was supposed to fly back to the US with her daughter, but at the last minute decided to cancel her ticket and stay in Vietnam. "If she had insisted on going to the US back then, she would have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and wouldn't be in this situation now," Phi Nhung's relatives reproached her. However, while still conscious in her hospital bed, Phi Nhung smiled and said, "It's okay, I will be strong and overcome this." Previously, when friends urged her to return to the US with her daughter, Phi Nhung insisted she couldn't go because Saigon was severely affected and many people were suffering because of the pandemic.
During Phi Nhung's serious illness, her family, friends, and fans prayed for her. Her daughter is currently a nurse in the US. The last time Phi Nhung and her daughter saw each other was Christmas 2019, when the singer was flying to New York for a show and her daughter surprised her at the airport. Since the singer returned to Vietnam to develop her artistic career, business, and care for her adopted children, the two have seen each other less frequently. Despite the distance, they often FaceTime, and Wendy always encourages her mother to take care of her health so she can look after her adopted siblings.

The singer also sponsors several musical talents, taking them under her wing and teaching them the craft, including Ho Van Cuong – the winner of Vietnam Idol Kids 2016. The singer is very private about her personal life and only recently, a few years ago, revealed information about her biological daughter.
