Ca Tru at Cuong Temple

(Baonghean.vn) - Over the past 10 years, singing Ca Tru (traditional Vietnamese folk singing) at temples and the exchange between Ca Tru clubs in Dien Chau district have become a special feature and an indispensable part of the Cuong Temple Festival's activities.

As usual, starting after the Lunar New Year, the Ca Tru clubs throughout the district, along with the singers and performers, have been diligently practicing and preparing to bring the most unique and captivating performances to the exchange program for visitors from all over who come to the Cuong Temple festival.

Besides familiar faces who have been associated with ca trù for decades, such as the distinguished artist Cao Xuân Thưởng (Diễn Hoa), singer Bích Lâm (Diễn Mỹ), Ngọc Mai (Diễn Liên)... the audience also enjoyed unique and special performances by married couples and father-son pairs of male and female singers such as Tài Khoản - Minh Phùng; Văn Thành - Mai Hạnh (Diễn Yên); Công Súy - Ngọc Mai (Diễn Liên)... and promising young singers in their school years like Mai Anh (Diễn Liên).

Mr. Vo Minh Phuc, Deputy Director of the Dien Chau District Cultural and Sports Center, said: After several times incorporating Ca Tru singing into the festival program at Cuong Temple, which was well-received by tourists, the district's Department of Culture boldly invested in and encouraged artisan families and Ca Tru clubs throughout the district to practice and contribute performances, making the annual Ca Tru exchange program at Cuong Temple Festival more diverse and attractive to tourists, and truly becoming a highlight – a unique "specialty" of the Cuong Temple Festival.
