Mugwort leaves are not only a spice but also a medicinal herb in traditional medicine. Below are some remedies using mugwort leaves.

The health benefits of the apricot tree

An article on the Medlatec General Hospital website, with medical consultation from Dr. Duong Ngoc Van, states that the leaves of the hairy fig tree have a slightly bitter and astringent taste, a cooling nature, and a somewhat unpleasant smell, but are often used for disinfection and detoxification. Therefore, those suffering from indigestion and bloating can use hairy fig leaves to improve these symptoms.

According to modern medical research, the leaves of the hairy fig tree contain active compounds with the following uses:

Essential oils, vitamin C, protein, carotene: Provide energy and boost immunity;

Sulfur dimethyl disulphide: An active ingredient with antibiotic-like effects that helps kill bacteria, reduce inflammation in the digestive tract, and treat irritable bowel syndrome.

The leaves of the hairy fig tree contain many anti-inflammatory compounds that help neutralize stomach acid and promote the rapid healing of lesions in the stomach lining.

Thanks to its cooling properties, the leaves of the hairy fig tree also help balance the digestive system, regulate blood circulation, and prevent bloating, gas, loss of appetite, and indigestion.

Alkaloids: These are active compounds that prevent oxidation, thereby helping to limit the development of free radicals that are harmful to the body.

Medicinal remedies using guava leaves

The Health & Life newspaper quoted Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang as providing guidance on some medicinal remedies using guava leaves as follows:

Diseases of the digestive system

The leaves of the hairy fig tree are considered a "natural antibiotic" that helps reduce stomach inflammation. Hairy fig helps digest accumulated food, relieves bloating, stomach pain, and diarrhea caused by overeating.

The leaves of the hairy fig tree have anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects on the intestines, and their cooling properties help soothe the stomach lining and reduce inflammation.

The leaves of the hairy fig tree reduce symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and colitis: Take about 15-20 fresh hairy fig leaves, wash them thoroughly, crush or blend them, then squeeze out the juice and drink it. Drink 1-2 times a day before meals.

Expectorant and cough suppressant

The stem of the hairy apricot tree helps to clear heat, dissolve phlegm, and relieve cough, especially in cases of cough with phlegm caused by heat.

Take fresh guava leaves, wash them thoroughly, and boil them to make a decoction for drinking. Drinking this 1-2 times a day helps reduce coughs and improve sore throats.

Clears heat and detoxifies.

Use 30g of fresh mugwort leaves, combined with 20g of Houttuynia cordata and 15g of Centella asiatica. Wash the leaves thoroughly, then crush or blend them to extract the juice for drinking. This can be consumed once a day to enhance the cooling and detoxifying effects.

These vegetables all have a cooling effect on the liver, promote urination, and help detoxify the body, especially useful when the body is suffering from heat toxins or acne caused by internal heat.

Treatment of skin diseases

When applied externally, the stem of the hairy apricot tree can treat skin conditions such as eczema, neurodermatitis, and itchy skin.

Wash the leaves of the hairy fig tree thoroughly, crush them to extract the juice, and apply the juice directly to the itchy, pimpled skin area. Alternatively, crush the leaves and apply them to the itchy area.

Treatment of bone and joint diseases, rheumatism

Mugwort leaves contain many active compounds that have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, helping to relieve joint pain, strengthen cartilage health, and improve blood circulation to the joints.

The leaves, stems, or roots of the hairy plum tree can be cut into short pieces, roasted until golden brown, and used gradually. Each day, use about 50g to make a decoction for drinking or soak it in alcohol for massage; after a period of time, you will see results.

Note:Plum blossom is a familiar and relatively safe herbal remedy, effective in treating many different ailments. However, to achieve the best treatment results and avoid unwanted side effects, it is still advisable to consult a doctor or specialist before use to receive advice appropriate to each individual's health condition.
