What are NATO experts invited to Russia for?

The Russian Defense Ministry plans to discuss with foreign military experts the situation in the field of security in Europe, in particular the issue of military aviation flights over the Baltic Sea.

For this purpose, a group of NATO military experts will be invited to Moscow in September, as announced by Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov.

"NATO military experts were invited to Moscow in September for consultations on the military-political situation in Europe. In this area, the priority task, according to the assessment of the Russian Defense Ministry, is the level of readiness on a reciprocal basis to ensure flights of military aircraft over the Baltic Sea with only transponders switched on. For this purpose, experts from NATO and the Baltic states were invited to Moscow for consultations and to work out agreed measures to implement this initiative of Finnish President Sauli Niinistö," Deputy Minister Antonov said.
