(Baonghean.vn) - The military magazine Military Watch reports that the Ukrainian army is suffering heavy losses due to Russian missile attacks.

According to a Military Watch article cited by Ria Novosti, the dual attacks using Russia's Iskander-M missile system significantly increased losses for Ukrainian frontline units.

The article emphasizes that a "double attack" is the simultaneous launch of several missiles at a specific target.

According to Military Watch, Ukraine's air defense system is becoming increasingly weakened. This creates favorable conditions for Russian missiles to operate more effectively. At the same time, Moscow has successfully increased its arms production volume. This activity is also significantly affecting the situation on the front lines.

"The increasing superiority of surface-to-surface missile systems remains a key factor giving the Russian Armed Forces a significant advantage on the battlefield," Military Watch reports.

The Iskander tactical missile system has a range of up to 500 km and can carry conventional and nuclear warheads weighing up to 700 kg. The Iskander deploys a mobile re-entry vehicle and decoys to defeat enemy missile defense systems. Conventional warheads equipped on the Iskander include cluster munitions, thermobaric bombs, electromagnetic pulse bombs, and a type of munition designed to penetrate hard targets or targets buried deep underground, such as military bunkers.

Since Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine, the Iskander tactical missile system has played a crucial role. In March, US officials said that the Russian military had launched decoys to deceive Ukraine's air defense radar and heat-seeking missiles.

The Iskander missile can carry at least six decoys loaded into its launch tube. The decoys' role is to jam radar frequencies or create a false heat source to disrupt infrared-guided missiles.

According to the New York Times, the use of decoys may explain why Ukraine's air defenses had difficulty intercepting Russian Iskander missiles.
