Ria Novosti quoted an article on Military Watch saying that dual attacks using Russian Iskander-M missile systems significantly increased losses of Ukrainian frontline units.

The article emphasized that "dual strike" is the simultaneous launch of several missiles at a certain target.

According to Military Watch, Ukraine’s air defense system has become increasingly weakened. This has created favorable conditions for Russian missiles to operate with greater efficiency. At the same time, Moscow has succeeded in increasing the volume of weapons production. This activity also significantly affects the situation on the front.

"The growing superiority of surface-to-surface missile systems remains a key factor giving the Russian Armed Forces a significant advantage on the battlefield," Military Watch said.

The Iskander tactical missile system has a range of up to 500 km and can carry conventional and nuclear warheads weighing up to 700 kg. The Iskander deploys a mobile reentry vehicle and decoys to defeat enemy missile defense systems. Conventional warheads equipped on the Iskander missile include: cluster munitions, thermobaric bombs, electromagnetic pulse bombs and a type of munition designed to penetrate hardened targets or deeply buried targets, such as military bunkers.

The Iskander tactical missile system has played a key role since Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine. In March, US officials said the Russian military had launched decoys to fool Ukraine’s air defense radars and heat-seeking missiles.

Iskander can carry at least six decoys loaded into the launcher. The role of the decoys is to jam radar frequencies or create fake heat sources to confuse infrared-guided missiles.

The use of decoys may explain why Ukraine's air defenses had difficulty intercepting Russia's Iskander missiles, according to the New York Times.
