Localities take action to prevent and combat HIV/AIDS

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 30, localities in the province held a rally in response to the "National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control" in 2015.

* In Con Cuong district, the rally was organized by the District People's Committee at Binh Chuan Secondary School..

Con Cuong district currently has 247 people infected with HIV, of which 211 have management records. The number of people who have developed AIDS is 146 cases; there are 141 deaths due to AIDS.

In Binh Chuan commune alone, there are about 127 drug addicts, the highest rate in the district. There are 13 HIV-infected people with records.

At the rally, the leaders of Con Cuong district called on people to respond to HIV/AIDS prevention, considering this a war of humanity and calling on all people to join hands together to push back this dangerous pandemic.

* In Dien Chau district, the rally took place at Dien Chau town secondary school.

Currently, Dien Chau has 620 drug addicts and 390 people infected with HIV/AIDS. There are currently 3 HIV/AIDS prevention and control projects being implemented in the district: the National Target Program, the World Health Organization FHI Project and the HIV Prevention and Control Organization Project - VAAC of the US.

With the theme "Towards the 90-90-90 target", meaning 90% of people infected with HIV know their status, 90% of people infected with HIV are diagnosed with the disease and 90% of people infected with HIV are treated with antiretroviral drugs to control the disease, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district launched a campaign for communes and towns to increase communication activities, counseling on changing behaviors to prevent HIV infection and increase access to and provision of prevention services, care and treatment for HIV/AIDS patients.
