Local authorities launch campaigns to improve transportation and irrigation infrastructure.

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 14th, Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu district, and Que Phong district launched a campaign involving all citizens in irrigation and rural transportation projects.

* In Que Phong,Due to the impact of recent floods, thousands of hectares of rice fields and irrigation canals have been swept away or silted up, requiring dredging. Therefore, immediately after the launching ceremony, nearly 1,500 officials and workers, including 1,200 high school students, participated in clearing vegetation along both sides of the roads and dredging irrigation canals and rural roads in the three communes of Chau Kim, Muong Ngoc, and Kim Son town.

According to the plan, this year Que Phong district will mobilize 49,918 laborers to clear and dredge more than 16,000 cubic meters of mud and soil, and excavate and fill more than 32,000 meters of canals and ditches, with a total labor value of approximately 10.901 billion VND.

*As for Hoang Mai town,The campaign involved mobilizing the entire population to repair irrigation works, pave main roads within fields and villages with concrete, and dredge and repair canals and irrigation facilities, especially in large-scale model fields, contributing to the national goal of building new rural areas and promoting socio-economic development. Following the launch ceremony, 1,700 people began carrying out the tasks in 10 communes and wards. The plan included dredging, clearing, and cleaning over 280,000 m2 of canals and ditches, and constructing nearly 58,000 m3 of irrigation and transportation infrastructure.

*This year, Quynh Luu districtThe goal is to complete a total volume of over 119,000 m³, including 20,300 m³ of rural road construction; over 50,600 m³ of embankment construction for fields and farm roads; 8,700 m³ of dike repair; 10,400 m³ of reservoir and dam system repair; over 29,000 m³ of dredging for irrigation and drainage canals; and nearly 154,000 m² of clearing roads, removing weeds, mowing grass, and cleaning irrigation and drainage canals. On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Commendation to Nguyen Duc Mau High School; and the Quynh Luu District People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 collectives and 6 individuals for their achievements in the 2015 nationwide campaign to build irrigation and transportation infrastructure.

*In Con Cuong,Simultaneously with the implementation of the "All People Participate in Waterway and Irrigation Construction" plan, the district is implementing the following projects: the project to build Con Cuong district into an ecological urban area; the project to plant trees in urban and rural areas and protect natural landscapes for the period 2016-2020 and subsequent years; the project to protect and develop aquatic resources for the period 2016-2020; and the project to produce safe vegetables in concentrated areas according to VietGAP standards, for the period 2016-2020.

* Unlike previous years, this year Tan Ky districtInstead of organizing a rally to launch a nationwide irrigation campaign, the district directed local authorities to mobilize Party members, officials, and people from all walks of life to directly participate in the work in the fields. District leaders went directly to the grassroots level to guide and encourage people to actively work in the fields, building embankments and clearing irrigation canals. Tan Ky is determined to complete the plan to dredge 300,000 m of canals, repair and rebuild 4,550 m of irrigation canals damaged by landslides during the recent floods; and clear bushes along the canals and internal field roads covering 45,700 m2 to create favorable conditions for the 2016 spring crop and upcoming seasons, contributing to success in both yield and production of crops.
