Provinces of neighboring Laos send New Year greetings to Nghe An province.

On the morning of January 16th, a delegation from the provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, including Savannakhet, Xaysomboun, Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, and Bolikhamsai, visited and extended New Year greetings for the Year of the Snake 2025 to the Party Committee, Government, and people of Nghe An province.

Receiving the delegations was Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Also present were leaders of provincial departments and agencies.

A delegation from Savannakhet province, led by Comrade Lingthong Sengtavan - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor of Savannakhet province, visited and extended New Year greetings to Nghe An province.

During the meeting, Comrade Linhthong Sengtavan, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor of Savannakhet province, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from the leaders of Nghe An province.

On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2025 (Year of the Snake), on behalf of the Party Committee, Government, and People of Savannakhet Province, Comrade Linghong Sengtavan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor of Savannakhet Province, wished the Party Committee, Government, and People of Nghe An Province good health and many new successes. He also wished for the comprehensive cooperation between the two provinces to become increasingly strong, further enhancing the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The comrade emphasized that, in recent times, the friendly cooperative relationship between the two provinces has achieved many positive results. Exchange programs, exchanges, and learning experiences between the two provinces have been implemented actively and effectively. Cooperation in education and training has received great attention from the leaders of both provinces, and the number of students from Savannakhet province studying at universities and colleges in Nghe An province on scholarships is increasing. In the 2024-2025 academic year, Nghe An province has been and is currently receiving and training a total of 30 officials, students, and trainees from Savannakhet province.

In the coming period, in addition to continuing to build on the achievements already made, the two provinces need to further strengthen exchange and cooperation activities in the fields of trade and tourism, in line with the potential and advantages of both provinces.

A delegation from Xaysomboun province, led by Comrade Lengsyong Tongsi - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction of Xaysomboun province, visited Nghe An province to extend New Year greetings to the Vietnamese people.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Snake 2025, on behalf of the Party Committee, Government and People of Xaysomboun Province, Comrade Lengsyong Tongsi extended New Year greetings to the Party Committee, Government and People of Nghe An Province, wishing them a new spring filled with joy, health and happiness; and wishing that the cooperative relationship between the two provinces would deepen and develop comprehensively in all fields.

At the same time, he emphasized that in recent times, the friendly cooperative relationship between the two provinces has achieved many positive results. Exchange visits, exchanges, and learning experiences between the two provinces have been carried out actively and effectively. The government and people of Xaysomboun province have provided very active support to the Nghe An Provincial Search and Recovery Team in the work of searching for, excavating, and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts who died in Laos; actively disseminating information and mobilizing all sectors of the population to provide information about the burial places of the martyrs; and assigning officials familiar with the terrain to participate in activities with the Nghe An Provincial Search and Recovery Team.

Educational and training cooperation activities are of great interest to the leaders of both provinces, and the number of students from Xaysomboun province studying at universities and colleges in Nghe An province on scholarships is increasing. In the 2024-2025 academic year, Nghe An province will receive a total of 20 students from Xaysomboun province for training.

Following that, the Xieng Khouang Provincial leadership delegation, led by Comrade Bua-ngan Hum-xay-nha-phum, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor of Xieng Khouang Province, visited and extended New Year greetings to Nghe An Province.

During the meeting, Comrade Bua-ngan Hum-xay-nha-phum shared: In recent times, the exchange of delegations, interaction, and learning from experience between the two provinces have been carried out actively and effectively. Both sides have coordinated well in managing and protecting the border, ensuring security and order, combating and preventing various types of crime, resolving issues related to illegal migration and unregistered marriages in the border areas of Vietnam and Laos; creating conditions for localities and people on both sides of the border to meet, interact, trade goods, and conduct commercial transactions.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, Nghe An will receive a total of 50 students from Xieng Khouang province for training.

Also on the morning of January 16th, a delegation of leaders from Hua Phan province, led by Comrade Phutphan Keovongxay - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor, visited and extended New Year greetings to the Party Committee, Government, and people of Nghe An province.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, the government, and the people of the ethnic groups of Hua Phan province, Comrade Phutphan Keovongxay extended New Year greetings of good health, happiness, and success in all fields to the Party Committee, government, armed forces, and people of all ethnic groups of Nghe An province.

In a brief overview of the economic and social situation of Hua Phan province, Comrade Phutphan Keovongxay highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between the two sides, especially acknowledging and thanking Nghe An province for its assistance in the past. He also highly appreciated Nghe An's support in training human resources for the province.

During his visit to Nghe An province to extend New Year greetings, Comrade Suvanni Xaysana, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Member of the 8th National Assembly, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Bolikhamsai, on behalf of the provincial leadership, conveyed the best New Year wishes to the Party Committee, Government, and people of Nghe An province.

The comrade affirmed that, in recent times, the exchange of delegations, interaction, and learning from experience between the two provinces have been carried out actively and effectively. Recently, the two provinces agreed to coordinate the implementation of activities allowing people, vehicles, and goods to pass through the Thanh Thuy – Nam On sub-border gates to maximize the potential of these border gates and create favorable conditions for people and businesses on both sides in immigration and import/export of goods across the border. This is an important prerequisite for investing in and upgrading these border gates and building the Vientiane – Hanoi expressway through the Nam On – Thanh Thuy border gate.

During the receptions, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long respectfully thanked the leaders of the provinces of Savannakhet, Xaysomboun, Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, and Bolikhamsai of Laos for their kind sentiments and congratulations to Nghe An province. At the same time, the leaders of Nghe An province congratulated the provinces of Laos on their socio-economic achievements in recent times.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province also expressed his pleasure that the provinces of Laos and Nghe An province are supporting each other and cooperating more effectively. Cooperation activities between Nghe An province and the provinces of Laos not only contribute to strengthening the special solidarity and friendship between the two Parties, two States, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos, but also play an important role in promoting socio-economic development, maintaining national defense, security, order, and social safety in each province.

Comrade Bui Dinh Long informed the leaders of the provinces of Laos about some key aspects of Nghe An province's socio-economic development in 2024; and its orientation and development strategy for the new period.

Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long expressed confidence that the traditional friendly cooperative relationship between Nghe An province and the provinces of Laos will continue to develop; in addition to continuing to build on the achievements already made, both sides need to further strengthen exchange and cooperation activities in the fields of trade and tourism, in accordance with the potential and advantages of each province in developing the socio-economic conditions of the border region and improving the lives of people on both sides of the border.

He extended his best wishes to the Party Committee, Government, and people of the provinces of Laos for continued success in their development; and wished that the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Nghe An province and the provinces of Laos in particular, would remain ever-lasting and enduring.
