Immediately remove the official who collected flood relief money from the people.
Quang Binh province leaders expressed outrage at the news that village officials arbitrarily "collected" flood relief money from people.
On the afternoon of October 25, responding to the incident of village officials arbitrarily "collecting" support money from people after the flood, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province, said that the province had just received feedback from people through the press and was urgently investigating this incident.
"If it is true that such an incident of collecting money from charity groups for relief from the people happened, then these officials should be dismissed immediately and nothing more should be said," Mr. Hoai emphasized.

Mr. Pham Quang Long - Chairman of Ba Don Town People's Committee said that he had grasped the above incident and had urgently directed the leaders of Quang Trung commune to request that they rectify and return all the collected relief money.
"This action by the Trung Thon village officials was spontaneous. The village officials noticed that these households received donations many times. This recovery is to be regulated within the village," said Mr. Long.
In addition, Mr. Long added that after the incident, he directly called the leaders of communes, wards and towns in the area to rectify and remind and request that from now on the villages absolutely do not collect the relief money that charity groups give to the people.
According to the leaders of Ba Don town, after the historic flood in mid-October, many charity groups from all over the country came to Quang Binh in general and Ba Don town in particular to support and help people overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.

"Regarding the actions of the Trung Thon village officials, the Ba Don Town People's Committee requests that the money be returned to the people immediately. After that, these officials must have a specific report and the Town People's Committee will have a direction for handling it later," Mr. Long continued.
Previously, people in Trung Thon village (Quang Trung commune, Ba Don town) reported that many charity groups from across the country came to their homes to give them money and gifts to support them after the historic flood.
On October 22, a charity group in Ho Chi Minh City gave about 40 gifts to many households in especially difficult circumstances in the village, each gift worth 500,000 VND along with a support gift.
However, when the relief team had just left, the leaders of Trung Thon village arbitrarily assigned many officials to go to the houses to collect 400/500 thousand VND that the people received with the reason that it was to "divide equally" among all the people.
