How to use the car seat memory function

Increasingly popular on new car models, the driver's seat memory function brings many conveniences to users. However, not everyone who owns a car knows how to use this function.

The driver's seat is increasingly focused on by car manufacturers to increase convenience and comfort for users. Along with the multi-directional electric adjustment function, on some new car models, the driver's seat and front passenger seat are also equipped with a position memory function. What is the car seat memory function?

Simply put, remembering the seat position in a car is a convenient function that helps remember and automatically readjust the seat position that the user has previously set. This function helps limit the operations for the driver when using the car, as well as save time to reset the driver's seat position according to each person's stature.

Previously, the driver's seat memory function was only equipped on models of luxury car brands. However, in recent years, some popular car models have also integrated this function. Even luxury car manufacturers equip this function for the front and rear passenger seats.

There can be many computers (ECU) on a car, each ECU will take on a number of different functions and systems. Normally, the seat position memory function will be taken on by a computer box that controls the body system - body control module. With the seat position memory function, through the control switch integrated on the seat (position control ECU), it will perform the functions of controlling the sliding, tilting, raising and lowering of the seat... remembering the seat position and proceeding to restore the seat position.

This function will recall the seat position using the electronic key ID code to remember and return the appropriate seat position to the user set.

How to use the seat memory function?

Depending on the car model, the number of seat positions will be different. Some car models are equipped with electric seats with 2, 3 or 4 different memory positions to meet the needs of many users. Normally, current car models often have 3 seat memory positions.

To use this function, the user first needs to start the car. Then, adjust the seat cushion, backrest, steering wheel, and rearview mirror positions to the desired position. Once adjusted, press and hold the Setup button (some cars are often marked with the letter M), along with button number 1 right below, after 3 - 5 seconds, the position memory function will be activated through a warning sound, accompanied by a flashing signal light. Similar to the above steps, the memory position can be set at button number 2 for another person who also uses the car. When using, the user only needs to press button 1, 2, or 3 that he has set, then the seat and steering wheel will automatically adjust to the remembered position.
