How to use the car seat memory function
Increasingly common in new car models, the driver's seat memory function offers many conveniences for users. However, not everyone who owns a car knows how to use this function.
Automotive manufacturers are increasingly focusing on driver's seats to enhance user comfort and convenience. Along with multi-directional power adjustment, some newer car models also feature memory functions for the driver's and front passenger seats. However, the reality is that, given Vietnamese car usage habits, not everyone pays attention to or fully utilizes the convenience that this memory function provides.

What is the car seat memory function?
Simply put, the car seat memory function is a useful feature that helps remember and automatically readjust the seat position to the user's previously set position. This function aims to reduce the number of actions the driver takes when using the car, as well as save time in readjusting the driver's seat to suit each person's height.
Previously, the driver's seat memory function was only available on models from luxury car brands. However, in recent years, some mainstream car models have also integrated this function. Even luxury car manufacturers are now equipping this function for both the front and rear passenger seats.

A car can have multiple electronic control units (ECUs), each responsible for different functions and systems. Typically, the seat position memory function is handled by a body control module. With this function, the seat position is controlled via a switch integrated into the seat (the ECU controls the seat position), performing functions such as sliding, tilting, raising, and lowering the seat, remembering the seat position, and restoring it.
This function will recall the seat's position using the electronic key's ID code to remember and return the seat to the user who has set it.

Depending on the model, the number of seat position memory settings will vary. Some models are equipped with power-adjustable seats that can store 2, 3, or 4 different positions to meet the needs of different users. Typically, current models have 3 seat memory settings.
Activating the seat position memory function in a car is quite simple. |
To use this function, the user first needs to start the car. Then, adjust the seat cushions, backrests, steering wheel, and rearview mirrors to the desired position. Once adjusted, simultaneously press and hold the Setup button (often indicated by the letter M on some cars) and the number 1 button below it. After 3-5 seconds, the position memory function will be activated via an audible alert and a flashing light. Similarly, you can set a memory position using the number 2 button for another person sharing the car. When using it, simply press the set button (1, 2, or 3), and the seat and steering wheel will automatically adjust to the saved position.
