Experts reveal that the fastest way to help us increase the battery life of our phones and other mobile devices running the Android operating system by more than 20% is to delete the Facebook application immediately.

Nearly three and a half years ago, Phonearena published an article claiming that the Facebook app was one of the culprits causing extremely fast battery drain on iOS devices. Last year, Facebook also acknowledged this and announced that the latest update to the app would help fix the problem.

However, currently, it seems that Android users are having the most trouble with battery drain and the culprit is of course still because their devices have the Facebook application installed.

Tech World Zone recently tested using Facebook on the Nexus 6P using the Metal intermediary application. Metal is a "web wrapper" application for Facebook. The test results showed that after a week, removing the Facebook application helped the above Android phone model increase its battery life by 20% per day. In addition to fixing the battery drain problem, removing the Facebook application can also improve the performance of the Android device.

While the Android battery stats don’t show anything untoward about the amount of power it takes to run the Facebook app, the social networking app continues to run in the background even when the phone it’s installed on is offline. It seems that this Facebook feature was created to help it open quickly on demand and provide notifications and instant messages.

While Facebook has previously spoken out about issues with installing its app, the company appears to be referring only to performance issues with Android phones and tablets. "We've heard reports of some people experiencing issues with the speed of the Facebook app for Android. We're investigating and will update you as soon as possible. We're focused on addressing and fixing these issues," a Facebook spokesperson said.

While Facebook has yet to come up with an official solution, according to experts, if you still want to access Facebook and have longer battery life, you can always delete the social networking app and access it on your Android web browser.
