How to calculate the total cost of a car on the road in Vietnam
The price of a new car of the same type in different provinces and cities in Vietnam is not the same.
The constant change in tax and fee policies when buying a new car makes many people not know what additional costs they have to pay when buying a car. This additional amount includes taxes and fees, the "heaviest" of which is the registration fee of 10-12%, followed by the vehicle registration fee of 1 million to 20 million VND, road maintenance fee, and finally the inspection fee and civil liability insurance.
In addition, not to mention optional fees such as physical insurance (depending on package) or vehicle registration service.
The actual amount after vehicle registration is usually about 12-20% higher (depending on the city) than the original purchase price of the vehicle.

Thus, for the same car with the same price, to get legal documents, in addition to the road fee collected for the first year for cars with less than 9 seats, the remaining taxes and fees are different in different provinces and cities.
The amount of money for expenses other than the car price will increase/decrease proportionally to the car price. In particular, the two big cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, have the highest tax and fee rates in Vietnam.
