How to replace your car's air conditioner filter yourself.
Car air conditioner filters need to be cleaned and replaced regularly; otherwise, they can easily become clogged, affecting the operation of the car's air conditioning system.
The car's air conditioning filter (also known as the cabin filter) helps to remove dust and dirt from the air before it enters the car's air conditioning system. Car air conditioners have two air intake modes: recirculating air and drawing in outside air. The air conditioning filter ensures that the incoming air from outside is always filtered.
How to replace the car's air conditioner filter
The car's air conditioning filter is usually located inside the dashboard, right behind the glove compartment on the passenger side.
How to remove the car's air conditioning filter:

Step 1: Open the glove compartment on the passenger side, press the latches on either side, and slowly lift the glove compartment out. You will then see the air conditioner filter cover inside.
Step 2: Press the latch on the left or right side of the air filter housing cover to open it. Note that some vehicles do not open the cover straight up but require pushing it to the left. Once the cover is open, you can remove the air filter.
How to install a car's air conditioning filter:
Step 1: Be careful not to install the new car air conditioner filter upside down. Air conditioner filters usually have lettering and an arrow printed on them; position them correctly according to the arrow.
Step 2: Reattach the air filter box cover, then install the storage compartment back in its original position.
The method for removing and installing a car's air conditioning filter can vary by car manufacturer. Many cars only require flipping a latch, while some require unscrewing a bolt. The car's owner's manual will specify the exact location and instructions for removing/installing the air conditioning filter. You can refer to this manual for more information.
How often should I replace my car's air conditioning filter?
After a period of use, the air filter in a car's air conditioner will become dirty. This can easily obstruct the airflow, and in more serious cases, cause blockages, affecting the operation of the car's air conditioning system. This is also one of the causes of many common car air conditioning problems such as: the air conditioner not cooling properly, cooling intermittently, and emitting unpleasant odors.
Therefore, it is necessary to clean or replace the car's air conditioning filter regularly. Car manufacturers recommend cleaning the air conditioning filter every 5,000 - 10,000 km and replacing it with a new one every 20,000 - 30,000 km.
Additionally, if you notice any of the following unusual signs in your car's air conditioning system, such as a foul odor, insufficient cooling, intermittent cooling, or condensation on the air vents, you should check the air filter. It's possible the air filter is excessively dirty, causing blockages that prevent the fan from drawing in enough air.
