Young man loses nearly 200 million VND after installing online visa application software.
Following instructions from a Facebook account, Mr. Q used his Android phone to access a link to download the "Visa Korean" software and discovered that nearly 200 million VND had been stolen from his account.
On April 13th, the Hanoi City Police announced that in early April 2025, Mr. Q. (born in 2005), residing in Dan Phuong district, had searched online for information about obtaining a South Korean visa.
Subsequently, a Facebook account messaged Mr. Q., instructing him to use his Android phone to access a link to download software called "Visa Korean". After logging into the software, Mr. Q.'s phone unexpectedly froze.
Suspecting he had been scammed, Mr. Q checked his bank account and received a notification that it had been frozen. When he went to the bank to check, he discovered that nearly 200 million VND had been withdrawn from his account. Immediately afterward, he reported the incident to the police.
