This statistic only includes vehicles whose inspections have expired for more than 30 days. If we include vehicles whose registrations are overdue (from the point where penalties begin), the number would be much higher. According to the Vehicle Registration Department, if these vehicles continue to be used on the roads, they pose a very high risk of causing accidents.

In addition, to date, the whole country has 186,883 vehicles that have reached the end of their service life, including 138,510 cargo vehicles and 48,373 passenger vehicles. The number of "over-age" vehicles recorded in 2017 was 24,264, including 21,651 cargo vehicles and 2,613 passenger vehicles.

Therefore, this unit has publicly posted the list of vehicles that have reached the end of their service life and vehicles that have expired inspection certificates on the Department's website so that authorities and citizens can look up and compile statistics 24/7. At the same time, the Department has sent the list to the Traffic Police Department (C67), and reports periodically to the National Traffic Safety Committee and the provinces for guidance and control.

The Department of Vehicle Registration also requested the People's Committees of localities to direct relevant agencies to strengthen patrols and inspections, and strictly handle vehicle owners and drivers who bring vehicles that have exceeded their service life or have expired inspection certificates into traffic.
