Criminal police officer and his wife accused of defrauding tens of billions of VND.
Using the pretext of borrowing money to repay bank loans, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh Dung and his wife borrowed tens of billions of dong from many people, and failed to repay the loans when due.
On the afternoon of July 11th, Colonel Dang Ngoc Son, Deputy Director of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police, stated that the Provincial Police Investigation Agency is currently handling a criminal complaint against Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh Dung and his wife, Ms. Duong Thi My Linh (residing in An Tay Ward, Hue City), regarding their alleged misconduct.fraud and misappropriation of property.
At the time of the accusation, Mr. Dung was a police officer working at the Criminal Investigation Team of the Hue City Police Department.
A leader of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Procuracy said that the unit had received a complaint from citizens regarding Mr. and Mrs. Dung and had forwarded it to the police for handling according to their jurisdiction.

Previously, at least 10 people had filed complaints with provincial authorities accusing Mr. and Mrs. Dung of defrauding them of more than 23 billion VND. The smallest loan amounted to 300 million VND, while the largest was nearly 8.5 billion VND.
According to the complaint filed by Ms. LTTT (residing on Bui Thi Xuan Street, Phuong Duc Ward, Hue City), Mr. and Mrs. Dung borrowed and then misappropriated 4.15 billion VND from her, including 3.15 billion VND borrowed to repay bank loans.
When Mr. and Mrs. Dung received the money from Mrs. T., they wrote a promissory note stating the repayment date, but then failed to fulfill it for a long time.
After a long period of time without receiving repayment from Mr. and Mrs. Dung, Mrs. T. filed a complaint with the Procuratorate and the Police Department of Thua Thien Hue province.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that, in addition to Mrs. T.'s case, at least 10 other people have filed complaints accusing Mr. and Mrs. Dung of fraud totaling over 23 billion VND.
