Close-up of 1.6-ton catfish 'crossing the border' from Cambodia to Vietnam
A giant catfish weighing more than 1.6 quintals and measuring 2.3 meters long that slipped through the net of a Cambodian fisherman on the Mekong River was purchased by a shop owner in Hanoi. The appearance of this "monster" giant catfish in the capital attracted many curious people to come and see.
Mr. Le Sy Long, owner of a restaurant in Cau Giay district, Hanoi, said he had just bought a "giant" giant catfish caught by Cambodian fishermen on the upper Mekong River.
The fish is placed in a styrofoam box carefully sealed with tape.

This 1.6 quintal giant catfish is 2.3m long and about 1.2m wide. Its meat and skin are very thick. "This is a type of giant catfish with high nutritional value, loved by many people and can be processed into many different dishes. To catch this giant fish, you must cast a large net. If you go swimming and encounter this super giant fish, you might faint...!", Mr. Long happily said.
The fin of the fish weighed 1.6 quintals. The giant catfish is a typical fish that lives in the lower Mekong River, grows by eating plants and aquatic animals, and is known as the largest freshwater fish in the world. When mature, this fish can reach 3m in length and weigh over 300kg.
