(Baonghean.vn) - A pair of deer antlers weighing over 8.5kg were recently sold by the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, Hamlet 6, Quynh Yen commune, along with the deer itself, for 360 million VND to a customer in Quynh Tan commune (Quynh Luu district).
Upon hearing the news that Mr. Nguyen Van Tien's family had raised a deer with exceptionally large antlers, many people, especially deer breeders in Quynh Luu district, came to admire them and help the owner harvest the antlers. After harvesting, the antlers weighed 8.54 kg.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tien said: "My family bought this deer three years ago for 60 million VND. It's currently about 5 years old. Deer raised from 2 years old onwards will yield antlers once a year. After buying it, my family mainly fed the deer vegetables and grass. During the antler growing season, we supplemented its diet with starchy foods like corn and cassava... Last year, this deer yielded a pair of antlers weighing 7.6 kg. We didn't expect the antlers to weigh so much this year. However, my family is very regretful about selling this deer."
Reportedly, the customer who spent 360 million VND to own this deer and its antlers is Mr. Nguyen Canh Sinh, from Hamlet 13, Quynh Tan Commune (Quynh Luu District).
"Having been in the business of buying and raising deer for many years, I am very pleased to have acquired this deer. As for the pair of antlers, after they were harvested, someone has already placed an order to buy them back for 50 million VND," Mr. Nguyen Canh Sinh added.
