A close-up look at the production of Japanese-style Matcha green tea powder in Nghe An.
(Baonghean.vn) - The family of Mr. Pham Van Quy in Hamlet 5, Hung Son Commune (Anh Son District) has successfully produced raw tea leaves for making Matcha green tea powder using Japanese technology with the support of the JICA organization. This is the first model in Nghe An province to produce using this technology.
| According to Mr. Pham Van Quy, to produce tea as a raw material for Matcha green tea powder using Japanese technology, the planting and care process must strictly adhere to procedures that do not use pesticides, and mainly use organic microbial fertilizers. This creates "clean" raw materials for high-quality tea products… Photo: Huyen Trang |
| Currently, Mr. Quy's family is cultivating 7 sao (approximately 0.7 hectares) of tea using this technology. In the photo: 14 days before harvesting, the tea plants are covered to protect them from direct sunlight. Photo: Huyen Trang |
| Tea grown under shade has a darker green color compared to tea grown using conventional methods. In dark conditions, tea leaves produce more chlorophyll, resulting in a darker green color, which in turn increases the levels of catechins and theanines, leading to the best-tasting tea. | Notably, the raw materials for making Matcha green tea powder are harvested only during a week when the tea buds reach their optimal quality. Photo: Huyen Trang |

| After processing, the dried tea leaves are supplied to factories for further processing into various products such as tea powder, green tea, and packaged tea. Mr. Hoang Dinh My, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Son commune, stated: "The successful production of raw tea leaves for Matcha green tea powder using Japanese technology in this commune has opened opportunities for tea growers to enhance the value of this traditional local industrial crop, thereby increasing income and creating jobs for workers." Matcha is a type of tea made from tea plants that are covered. Because they are covered, the tea plants grow slowly, increasing their chlorophyll content, resulting in dark green leaves with more chlorophyll and more amino acids, especially L-Theanine. The natural caffeine in tea powder helps burn energy and improve the immune system, helping your body ward off negative effects from the external environment. L-Theanine, combined with caffeine, helps boost energy and alertness without the stress and agitation associated with caffeine. A side effect of L-Theanine is the increased production of dopamine and serotonin. These two substances help restore mood, improve memory, and enhance concentration. Pure matcha helps lower blood sugar levels, making it beneficial for people with diabetes, high blood pressure, liver disease, etc. Additionally, it can be used as a face mask and for skin care in women. |
