The methods of operation for youth volunteer teams need to be reformed.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 20th, the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province held a conference to review the work of the Union and youth movements in the first six months of 2016. The conference also outlined the plan to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Vietnam Youth Union's Traditional Day (October 15th, 1956 - October 15th, 2016).

In the first six months of 2016, the Youth Union at all levels promoted the theme "Proud Vietnamese Youth" among its members; and disseminated the "I Love My Homeland" movement to a wide range of young people. Youth Union branches throughout the province actively participated in promoting the election of National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels. Social welfare activities and providing support for the poor during the Lunar New Year were also given attention.

In particular, during the first six months of the year, the entire province organized 20 free medical examination, treatment, consultation, and medication distribution sessions for nearly 4,200 people, with a total value of over 256.8 million VND in distributed medicine, attracting the participation of 250 volunteer doctors and medical staff.

In addition, the units continued to effectively maintain the models of "bowl of compassionate porridge," "pot of compassionate porridge," and "clubs supporting patients." Voluntary blood donation activities attracted more than 10,027 young volunteers registering, resulting in the collection of 5,010 units of blood,...

At the conference, delegates discussed the achievements and shortcomings, the advantages and difficulties in organizing and implementing the Association's tasks; the transformation of branch models into clubs; the innovation of activities for youth volunteer teams; blood donation targets, Association operating budget, actual membership numbers, and the effectiveness of youth projects…

Simultaneously, outlining activities for the last six months of 2016, it is necessary to focus on creating many new features in activities at the grassroots level, diverse activities that engage young people, organizing well the activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Youth Union, promoting social welfare activities, caring for the spiritual life of young people, and innovating forms of skills training activities suitable for young people in the new era.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Youth Union awarded certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 5 individuals; the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 6 collectives and 3 individuals; the Provincial Youth Union awarded certificates of merit to 7 collectives and 7 individuals; and the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union awarded certificates of commendation to 10 collectives and 15 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the 2015 Winter Volunteer Program and the 2016 Spring Volunteer Program.
