Need to innovate the form of mobilizing and organizing voluntary blood donation

On March 14, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to evaluate the results of the voluntary blood donation campaign in 2018 and deploy tasks for 2019.

In 2018, the direction and organization of voluntary blood donation in Nghe An was carried out seriously and scientifically, so blood collection campaigns were increasingly effective.

Up to now, the voluntary blood donation work in Nghe An province continues to develop strongly in terms of the number of blood units, the rate of people donating blood for the second time or more has increased and the blood donation force is diverse. Specifically, Nghe An mobilized and received 32,739 blood units, reaching 121.25% of the plan. The rate of blood donation population reached 1.06%.

According to estimates, each day, the need for blood in Nghe An is from 120-150 units of blood; while the average amount of blood received each day is only 89 units.

In 2019, Nghe An province set a goal of building a sustainable and widespread blood donation movement and promoting it in many forms to mobilize 71,775 people to register for voluntary blood donation; organize over 63 mobile blood collection campaigns; strive to receive 29,000 units of blood, reaching 0.91% of the population, basically ensuring the blood needs for emergency and treatment in hospitals throughout the province.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing solutions to effectively implement voluntary blood donation campaigns in 2019, overcoming the ongoing blood shortage.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Le Minh Thong requested: Members of the Campaign Committee need to innovate the form and content of propaganda; promote blood donation mobilization in universities, colleges, and vocational high schools; bring blood mobilization and collection activities down to communes, wards, and towns, reducing travel for people...

Blood donation activities need to be organized solemnly so that each person who donates blood is honored. The gifts of gratitude must be truly meaningful./.
