(Baonghean.vn) - According to estimates, the daily demand for blood in Nghe An is between 120-150 units; while the average amount of blood received each day is only 89 units.
On March 14th, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to evaluate the results of the voluntary blood donation campaign in 2018 and to implement tasks for 2019.
Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation - chaired the meeting.

In 2018, the direction and organization of voluntary blood donation in Nghe An were carried out seriously and scientifically, resulting in increasingly effective blood collection campaigns.
To date, voluntary blood donation in Nghe An province continues to develop strongly in terms of both the number of blood units collected, the high rate of people participating in blood donation for the second time or more, and the diverse range of blood donors. Specifically, Nghe An mobilized and received 32,739 units of blood, achieving 121.25% of the plan. The blood donation rate among the population reached 1.06%.

According to estimates, the daily demand for blood in Nghe An is between 120 and 150 units; while the average amount of blood received each day is only 89 units.
In 2019, Nghe An province set a goal of building a widespread and sustainable blood donation movement and using various forms of propaganda to mobilize 71,775 people to register for voluntary blood donation; organizing over 63 mobile blood collection drives; striving to receive 29,000 units of blood, reaching 0.91% of the population, ensuring the basic blood needs for emergency and treatment in hospitals throughout the province.
At the meeting, the delegates focused on discussing solutions to effectively implement the voluntary blood donation campaign in 2019 and overcome the ongoing blood shortage.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Le Minh Thong requested that: Members of the Campaign Committee need to innovate the form and content of propaganda; strengthen blood donation campaigns in universities, colleges, and vocational high schools; bring blood donation and collection activities down to the commune, ward, and town levels, reducing travel for people...
Blood donation events should be organized in a dignified manner so that each person who participates in blood donation is honored. The gifts of appreciation should be truly meaningful.
