A direct flight route connecting Hungary and Vietnam is needed.

On the afternoon of January 19th (local time), in Budapest, Hungary, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, along with hundreds of businesses from both countries, attended the Vietnam-Hungary Business Forum.

Analyzing the truly favorable investment environment, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that there is no reason why Vietnamese and Hungarian businesses should not invest and conduct business in each other's countries.

According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam has been relatively successful with its choices so far. The Vietnamese economy has grown from $4 billion to over $400 billion, and per capita income is now over $4,000.

Over the past years, despite challenging global and regional conditions, Vietnam's macroeconomic situation has remained stable, inflation has been controlled, growth has been boosted, and major economic balances have been ensured. Revenue increased by over 8% in 2023, resulting in a trade surplus of $28 billion, and exports exceeded 8 million tons of rice, contributing to global food security.

The Prime Minister stated that Vietnam is calling on businesses to invest in the consumer and export sectors, while also focusing on new drivers such as the green economy, circular economy, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and innovation.

Vietnam is focusing on three strategic breakthroughs, including creating a more open institutional environment and reducing administrative procedures for investors and businesses; and ensuring smooth development of strategic infrastructure such as transportation and energy.

Speaking about human resource training, the Prime Minister shared that Vietnam is developing a plan to strive to have 100,000 engineers working in the semiconductor chip field by 2030.

The Vietnamese government is committed to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of investors, and always believes in supporting, encouraging, and protecting them.

In particular, Vietnam is committed to maintaining its independence, protecting its territorial integrity, and pursuing long-term stability policies because "no one will invest in a country without stable policies."

The head of the Vietnamese government called on investors and businesses from Hungary and Vietnam to invest in both countries, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendly relationship. The Prime Minister expressed hope that in the future, the two countries will become stronger, more powerful, and cooperate more effectively, bringing greater benefits to the people and businesses.

Hungary wants direct flights to Vietnam.

For his part, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also called on Vietnamese businesses to invest in Hungary. According to him, this cooperation is not only significant economically but also helps Vietnam and Hungary understand each other better.

After listening to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh share about Vietnam's history, Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed confidence that Vietnam is a country free from political risks, a crucial factor in attracting investment.

Hungary is determined to stand on the side of peace, considering peace the greatest value for development. “We will not pursue any policy that puts Hungary at risk of war,” Prime Minister Viktor Orban pledged when calling on Vietnamese businesses to invest in the country. According to Viktor Orban, Hungary has a “healthy, diversified” economy.

However, the Hungarian Prime Minister also pointed out a major obstacle to trade cooperation, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries: geographical distance.

From this, he argued that the necessary "remedy" to overcome this obstacle was to establish direct flights. He suggested that the ministries of both countries study this plan for early implementation.

He also said he had accepted an invitation from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to pay an official visit to Vietnam.
