Yesterday afternoon (December 10th), Can Tho Lottery Club decided to appoint Technical Director Vu Quang Bao as head coach, replacing coach Nguyen Thanh Danh.

After finalizing their squad for the 2016 V-League season, XSKT Can Tho continued to make personnel changes. Notably, Coach Vu Quang Bao was appointed as the new head coach of XSKT Can Tho, replacing Nguyen Thanh Danh. This marks the second time Coach Bao has led the team from the Western region. Previously, in the 2010-2011 season, Coach Bao coached Can Tho in the First Division, but this was not a very successful period for the coach from Nghe An.

Coach Vu Quang Bao has officially taken charge of Can Tho.

For many, this move is merely symbolic because everyone understands that Mr. Bao has long been the one making all the professional decisions at the Tay Do team. As Technical Director, Mr. Bao bears the highest responsibility. Most of the players brought to Tay Do came through Mr. Bao's connections, and many of these "mercenaries" originated from SLNA, Mr. Bao's hometown.

Instead of taking on the role of head coach as registered, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Danh was appointed to a higher position, that of CEO, a position vacated by Mr. Le Van Cuong. In addition, the Chairman of XSKT Can Tho Club, Mr. Le Viet Hung, will be replaced by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Tran Minh Tam.

When asked about the purpose of this coaching staff change, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Danh (CEO of XSKT Can Tho Club) said: “After a season participating in the V-League, to continue our success, we decided to make this change to create a new look for the club. We want to create professionalism within the team. Each position has been changed to suit the abilities and individual needs of each player.”

According to Mr. Danh, XSKT Can Tho's good preparation from the beginning of the season and the changes aimed at breakthroughs to help Can Tho football develop are thanks to the attention of local leaders. The club is receiving strong support from sponsoring businesses and, especially, from Can Tho fans who always support the team during difficult times.

Around mid-January, XSKT Can Tho FC will organize a friendly football tournament involving several teams from the Southern region such as Binh Duong, Long An, QNK Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Dong Thap, etc., to provide practice matches in preparation for the new season and to help teams assess their squads before the start of V-League 2016.
