The Can Tho City Police have just dismantled a large-scale gambling ring operating through lottery and football betting, arresting 13 suspects with transaction amounts exceeding 1,000 billion VND.
The Criminal Police Department of Can Tho City Police has successfully dismantled a large-scale gambling ring operating in the form of lottery and football betting. According to information from the authorities, this ring had a wide scope of operation with exceptionally large transaction amounts.
Authorities raided 8 locations and summoned 26 related individuals.
Earlier, in the early morning of June 28, the Criminal Police Department, in coordination with other professional units of the Can Tho City Police, simultaneously conducted urgent searches at eight locations in the city. During this operation, the police summoned 26 related individuals for questioning.
At the scene, authorities seized numerous items used in the illegal activities, including 45 mobile phones, tablets (iPads), various types of computers, and many documents and notebooks related to the buying and selling of lottery tickets and football betting.
Transaction volume exceeded 1,000 billion VND.
Through investigation and examination of electronic data, the police initially determined that the total amount of money transacted in gambling by this group from the time they started operating until they were dismantled amounted to over 1,000 billion VND. The suspects used high-tech equipment to operate the ring in order to evade detection by authorities.
Thirteen individuals have been taken into custody for further investigation.
Currently, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Can Tho City Police has issued a decision to temporarily detain 13 individuals on charges of gambling and organizing gambling. These individuals are crucial links in the operation and maintenance of this gambling ring.
The case is being further investigated by the Can Tho City Police, who are verifying the roles of the remaining suspects in order to strictly handle the matter according to the law. The police also advise citizens not to participate in social vices, especially gambling in any form.
