From 2020 to the present, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, along with the economic downturn and competition from other seaports, has caused many difficulties for Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company.

Recognizing the need to adapt to new conditions, seize opportunities, and test the will and determination of the leadership, staff, and workers, Nghe Tinh Port organized many important meetings, grasped directives from superiors, and proactively changed leadership methods within the unit to achieve significant results, generate revenue, create jobs for workers, and exploit the potential strengths of the locality.

The Party Committee and the company's leadership have devised new strategies such as: researching and applying administrative reforms, applying digital technology to steps in the production and business process, and encouraging and rewarding Kaizen ideas in production and business.

From 2022 to the present, 77 ideas for technical improvements and production rationalization have been awarded. Among them, many outstanding ideas include: Introducing Nghe Tinh Port through barcode scanning and QR code reading; Improving fuel management processes; Revising the warehouse layout at Cua Lo Loading and Unloading Enterprise; Office equipment management software, etc.

In response to the Kaizen (continuous improvement) movement launched by the Vietnam Maritime Corporation, in 2023, Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company strives to have 100 creative ideas and technical improvements that effectively serve production.

With the software, innovative ideas, and timely guidance from leaders, along with flexible responses to the pandemic situation, especially market fluctuations, leadership and management at the unit have undergone positive changes, aligning with current trends.

Internal regulations, production processes, and management policies are regularly updated and improved, resulting in increased efficiency. The company's equipment and facilities have been invested in and upgraded to meet the requirements for cargo handling and rapid ship turnaround, thus gradually increasing labor productivity.

Currently, the company has successfully implemented an e-port registration application on its software to facilitate customers. The port is moving towards integrating the e-port software onto its website for greater customer convenience. In addition, several other software applications have been implemented, including electronic document management software and payroll software.

Administrative reforms were also carried out in parallel. The document management system was implemented synchronously from the office down to the factory. The entire company is connected via a software platform for document archiving and port operations.

The establishment of the Cua Lo Operations Center represents a major change in the way the port operates. The center serves as a one-stop shop where customers can contact the port regarding all aspects of production and business operations. In addition to the application of digital technology, many innovative ideas for streamlining production and business operations are rewarded and implemented to encourage the thinking and creativity of the workforce.

Every year, Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company strictly fulfills its obligations to contribute to the state budget; provides employment; and strictly implements social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance… and other policies and benefits for its employees.

Among many notable achievements in implementing resolutions from higher levels, the leadership of Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company led the implementation of Resolution No. 25-NQ/TW (10th Congress) on "Strengthening the Party's leadership over youth work during the period of accelerated industrialization and modernization".

Following the Youth Union Congress for the 2022-2027 term, the Nghe Tinh Port Youth Union has carried out many practical activities. Youth union members have contributed to numerous projects, initiatives, and innovations that have generated tens of billions of dong in profits for the company. The programs, models, and exemplary initiatives undertaken by youth union members have been effective, harnessing the energy, dynamism, and creativity of young people, creating an environment for them to contribute and grow.

In response to the "Workers' Month" 2023 launched by the Party Committee of Vietnam Maritime Corporation, with the theme "Strengthening the development of safe working procedures and measures and improving working conditions, reducing workplace stress," the Trade Union and Youth Union have carried out practical activities in response.

Specifically: The Youth Union organized programs aimed at young workers in the company, such as "Young Workers' Day," "Day of Solidarity with Young Workers," creating beneficial and healthy recreational activities; the Trade Union launched the "Green - Clean - Beautiful" movement, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene and fire prevention.

The "Workers' Month" at the port has achieved many encouraging results: Well-organized general cleaning of warehouses, docks, workshops, and offices; clearing of drainage ditches and sewers; cleaning of on-site toilets and worker showers; and ensuring that manholes are not flooded. Increased watering and humidification of dust-generating areas during loading and unloading and in port traffic; proper collection of waste from docks and ships; and planning of cargo storage areas in suitable locations, away from residential areas.

The bulk cargo storage areas are all covered with tarpaulins to prevent and limit dust dispersion during loading and unloading. The port grounds have been re-planned, and more ornamental trees have been planted to create a pleasant environment. The units have installed a 9-meter-high dust-proof netting system around the fence near the residential area of ​​the rear yard of berths 1 and 2, and a misting system to humidify the area and reduce dust dispersion.

In addition, a review and inspection were conducted, and more fire safety signs and regulations were installed. Electric fans were added to the warehouse and repair workshop areas, and ice was provided to the production workforce at both units to mitigate the effects of the heat.

The Occupational Safety and Health Council, in coordination with the Trade Union, organized specific guidance on safe work skills and procedures, the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of employers and employees in occupational safety and health work, and regulations on occupational accidents; and strengthened the organization of inspections and self-inspections of occupational safety and health at units in cargo handling and other jobs with high risk of accidents.

The port organizes assessments and manages occupational safety and health risks at the production sites of the Cua Lo and Ben Thuy loading and unloading enterprises; conducts periodic environmental monitoring. Leaders and the trade union regularly visit and encourage workers who have suffered work-related accidents or occupational diseases, and effectively implement emulation and reward programs throughout the unit, fostering dialogue between leaders and employees.

Over the past half-term, despite facing many challenges, the staff and workers of Nghe Tinh Port have united in patriotic emulation, doing well in social welfare work; protecting the environment; and developing the economy while ensuring national security.

For the period 2023-2025, Nghe Tinh Port aims to continue actively undergoing digital transformation and integrating into the international economy; leveraging and exploiting its internal potential and attracting external investment. Nghe Tinh Port will invest in upgrading and developing Cua Lo Port, enabling the enterprise to achieve new growth, ensuring employment and livelihoods for workers, and fulfilling the set objectives.

Currently, the Party Committee of Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company is under the Party Committee of Vietnam Maritime Corporation, which is part of the Party Committee of the Central Enterprise Bloc. The Nghe Tinh Port Party Committee has 5 Party branches with a total of 149 Party members and 421 employees. In 2020, Nghe Tinh Port's revenue reached VND 205.8 billion, and in 2022, it reached VND 198.9 billion, achieving 103% of the plan. In the first six months of 2023, revenue reached VND 105.8 billion, equivalent to 102% of the annual plan.
